Epstein files controversy consuming Capitol Hill has fueled less fire at first lawmaker town halls of summer recess

(CNN) The Jeffrey Epstein files saga at times all but ground Capitol Hill to a halt last month — driving a wedge between Republicans in the House as Democrats went on offense to press President Donald Trump’s Justice Department to release more investigative material.

But since returning to their districts for summer recess, lawmakers aren’t hearing much about Epstein at public town hall meetings they’ve hosted so far.

The debate that’s dominated Washington in recent weeks didn’t come up at all in some town halls Republican and Democratic House members have held — including a raucous event Thursday hosted by Wisconsin GOP Rep. Bryan Steil and two more mild-mannered affairs held by Wyoming Republican Rep. Harriet Hageman. During others, it’s been the topic of just one or two questions.

The word "Epstein" should be our "Benghazi."

And there's something to "Epstein," where there wasn't with "Benghazi."

I watched Jen Psaki ask our new ranking member of the Oversight committee, Robert Garcia what he is going to do about Maxwell being transferred to a cozy prison which should be illegal. When he used the word "concerning" I screamed. He is sending letters asking who made the decision and why? Psaki asked him what will he do if he gets no response? He pretty much changed the subject and talked about the possible subpoenas of people to testify before Congress. Garcia was recently elected to lead the Oversight committee, I think Jasmine Crockett finished 4th in the voting.

The rules in that Texas prison do not allow sex traffickers. Last Wednesday Malcolm Nance said that Congressional Democrats are not screaming loud enough. Scream it out, the new Magat party protects sex traffickers over victims.

This should be a no brainer for Democrats to win, but yeah, I can see it slipping away, and whose fault will that be?

Jeffries and Schumer could be organizing every Congressional Democrat to do town halls instead of sending me texts every day asking for money for campaign ads.

He tweeted Friday about no accountability for Epstein enablers. He said Trump is in the files and showed a picture of Clinton with Epstein.

He said the government can find 1,000 people who attacked the Capitol not one person who enabled Epstein.

I can see the elected democrats falling down on this…. Everyone should be screaming it at the top of their lungs, but…. If I hear something in the rhetoric of “ keeping decorum” or “we go high when they go low”, i’m seriously going to consider leaving and going independent. AOC, Jasmine Crockett and a small minority of a few will not get this done. So far, Gavin Newsome has been just as or more vocal then the mass majority of the elected democrats in office. This IS NOT a winning strategy.
