Stephen Miller, the White House deputy chief of staff for policy, has begun baselessly claiming that birthright citizenship has become a massive welfare scam.

Birthright citizenship is the biggest, costliest scam in financial history, Miller ranted. An illegal alien could come here nine months pregnant, or on a tourist visa nine months pregnant, have a baby. That baby is then declared an automatic citizen, which then entitles the entire family to come here and live here, and every one of them get welfare

With his penchant for white nationalism, Miller is no stranger to making disgusting, racist generalizations about immigrants. Miller has previously endorsed a theory called remigration that, unlike deportation, refers to the forcible removal of nonethnically European immigrants and their families, regardless of their actual citizenship.
In a particularly outrageous escalation, Miller also claimed, without providing evidence, that birthright citizenship was a major national security threat that had been used by foreign governments to conduct espionage against the United States.

(42,130 posts)Its millers middle name. He isnt talking to us folk, hes directing his comments to the white trash who care not of liberty and Justice and due process. Hurting people on a daily basis is what being a conservative is all about. Their lives are miserable and of their own making.

(1,004 posts)I know you cannot apply reason but the people I have worked with, while most were on work visas not naturalized citizens were still probably of the ethnicity he hates, so not quite the same thing but are some of the hardest workers I know.

(12,341 posts)The simple fact is that the XIV Amendment, Section 1 says "All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside."
The language could not be more clear. With the very small exception of children born to parents in the country with diplomatic status (and not subject to the jurisdiction of the US), all persons born in the US are citizens of the US.

(338 posts)I know many non-citizens. They don't want citizenship because US Citizens are taxed on their worldwide income regardless of where they live and where the income was earned.
Former PM Boris Johnson was born in NY and the IRS went after him for taxes from selling his London house. He finally renounced his US citizenship.
