The removal of Colonel Susannah Meyers from her command at Pituffik Space Base in Greenland sparked a wave of misogynistic backlash online.
Byeeee! a woman has no business holding a top position in the military, anyway, beat it DEI! the military is a man's world, the women in this country have to start learning how to stay in their own lane, Geesh, it's not that hard. 🇺🇸

Meyers was relieved of her duties after reportedly sending an internal email that distanced her base from Vice President JD Vance's remarks stating Denmark had "not done a good job" for the people of Greenland.
"I do not presume to understand current politics," Meyers wrote in an email obtained by Military.com. "But what I do know is the concerns of the US administration discussed by Vice-President Vance on Friday are not reflective of Pituffik Space Base."
The US Space Operations Command cited a "loss of confidence in her ability to lead," in a statement, which was shared by Pentagon spokesperson Sean Parnell. "Actions to undermine the chain of command or to subvert President Trump's agenda will not be tolerated," Parnell wrote.
On social media, far-right commentators and self-described military veterans reacted with a flood of sexist attacks. Posts ranged from calling Meyers a "worthless sandwich maker" to questioning whether women belong in command positions at all.

And at the same time they are taking care of the kids, the house, the pets.
Man hate it for some reason.

(39,504 posts)Yet they have disdain for the women who they trust to raise their children & nurture & care for their family & home. I never got that. A republican relative told me he loves women & cares for them & I said, "No. You love & care for the women you know personally, not for all women as a class. Big difference."

(36,655 posts)I remember even as a child I would hear grown men say things like Motherhood is the most important job in the world! and my 8 year old self would think, if its so important, what arent YOU staying home with the kids?
Im not knocking motherhood, I was a SAHM for years raising three sons. Its like many men think we are incapable of running things, being in charge, planning ahead, leading people, accomplishing goals. Its so much b.s.

(401 posts)Colonel Meyers mistake was writing "But what I do know is the concerns of the US administration discussed by Vice-President Vance on Friday are not reflective of Pituffik Space Base." She was publicly criticizing official government policy which is something she shouldn't do.
IMO, what she should've said was something like this:
We appreciate Vice-President Vance's visit and to remind all military personnel not to make any public comments on whether they agree or disagree with Vice-President Vance's comments. As military members, we must ensure we do not comment on political issues in which the public may construe as being the policy of the Air Force or the DoD.
The military needs to be non-political and any disagreement with government policy should be kept within the branch of the military or within the DoD. As a colonel, her views should have been addressed to those higher up in her chain-of-command and not in an email to everyone on the base.
