It seems that Rep. Tom Kean Jr. may soon return to public life after more than 100 days. The two-term Republican, who represents New Jersey's 7th Congressional District, has not been in Washington, DC, since early March. In a statement, Harrison Neely, a consultant for the congressman, said Kean is eager to return to in-person work on June 30 and resume a full schedule.
Where has Rep. Tom Kean Jr. been?
Kean's team has issued statements noting that he is dealing with a personal medical issue but is expected to be totally fine.. Earlier in June, a statement said that he would transition from virtual work to in-person work within a matter of weeks."
That wasnt the first time his return was promised. Neely said Kean is handling a personal health matter and will be totally fine and returning to a full schedule soon in a statement April 23.
Kean has not voted in the House of Representatives since March 5. The latest update on Keans return was first reported by the New Jersey Globe.

(5,649 posts)what this PERSONAL medical reason is. He is in a public office, and if he doesn't want his private medical problems or anything else public, then he needs to get another job.
Hopefully the voters will make it so.

(3,546 posts)Your constituents deserve to know more. If you can't serve, you need to resign and handover to someone who can.
Never thought I'd be asking for a Republican to be more visible and present!
Who does this guy think he is that he gets to call the shots?
It must be a doozie with the lengths he and his staff have gone to hide whatever.

(82,051 posts)Its been over 3 months. If he has a medical leave just make it public. I am not saying he needs to tell his personal health problems but it should be a public record that he has taken leave --if indeed that is what is happening.

(303 posts)But Ms. Bennett needs to approach it like the race is dead even.
Even in a state like New Jersey, she should win. Kean's constituents should be outraged.

(5,475 posts)As a PASC survivor myself, I learned much about this life-stealing condition, which on average affects about 6% of infected people
Alyssa Milano, Matt McGorrym, Gwyneth Paltrow, Billie Eilish, and many other celebrities have battled with it
When afflicted, it can last for an unknown length of time, from a few months, to years
I'm surprised more politicians haven't succumbed to it
