NASCAR Cup Series driver Kyle Busch will not compete in Sunday's Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway after being hospitalized as the result of a severe illness.
In addition to the Cup race, Busch, 41, was scheduled to compete in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at the speedway in Concord, North Carolina.
"Kyle has experienced a severe illness resulting in hospitalization," the Busch family said in a statement posted on social media. "He is currently undergoing treatment and will not compete in any of his scheduled activities this weekend at Charlotte Motor Speedway. We ask for understanding and privacy as our family navigates this situation."
This will be the first time in more than a decade that Busch has missed a Cup Series race. In 2015, he missed the first 11 races of the season while recovering from a compound leg fracture and broken foot following a crash during the Xfinity Series season opener at Daytona International Speedway.

(3,502 posts)He was not a MAGA fuck head. Very few NASCAR drivers will get politically involved due to sponsorship issues.
His contacts with Chump have often been regarding IVF. His wife's cause.
I liked the Busch Brothers as much as the Bodines.

(53,404 posts)Six days ago, Kyle entered the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at Dover and won - plus leading the most laps (in fact, nearly three-quarters of the laps; the race was 200 laps long and he led 147 of them) and winning Stages 1 and 2.
Just so you know, Kyle Busch was married and had two children. It's a sad day all around.

(53,404 posts)Four days ago he competed in NASCAR's All-Star Race - a very public event. NASCAR, fortunately, knows who everyone attending a race is. But now they have to contact everyone who was within 50 feet of him to track the disease.
Unfortunately, this country's pandemic response system is under the control of Donald Fucking Trump and Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
