Most TN House Democrats stripped of their committee assignments

“Speaker of the TN House Cameron Sexton just removed me and every Democrat — and therefore every Black elected official in the state legislature from any committee we served on," Rep. Pearson said.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - All members of the House Democratic Caucus have been removed from their committees and subcommittees, according to a letter obtained by WSMV.

................

Sexton’s letter states that the committee removals are “due to actions taken” by the members during last week’s special session over redistricting across Tennessee. Those actions, Sexton said, “aimed at disrupting the democratic and legislative processes and creating disorder on the House Floor.”

He went on to cite specific examples, such as Democrats interlocking arms and blocking aisles on the House floor. He also accused them of “instigating and encouraging disruptions...in coordination with paid protestors and attendees,” and using “prohibited props and noisemakers on the House Floor.

...................

State Rep. Justin Jones (D-Nashville) posted the letter he received, which read, “Dear Representative Jones, You have been removed from all House standing committees and subcommittees,” the letter, signed by House Speaker Cameron Sexton (R), says. ...........................

So not only did TN Republicans strip Memphis of representation, Speaker Sexton is also stripping Dems of committees for protesting it.

Watch fascism work.

They have better than 3-1 majorities in both chambers.

And the best way to lose something is to take it for granted.

Trump is barely staying even in his approval rating there and the gas prices and cost of living is still catching up with a lot of people. It will be much worse before the general election and even TN might not be able to pretend anymore..

They will suffer any indignity to please their Big Daddy. This is a cult and a racist one to boot.

As president Johnson said:

If you can convince the lowest white man he's better than the best colored man, he won't notice you're picking his pocket. Hell, give him somebody to look down on, and he'll empty his pockets for you.

They start to wake up. It might take a kid or two of theirs starving to death first. But it will happen. I mean.... Trump is -7 net approval or worse (much worse) in 41 states! At least for now they certainly are not worshipping him like they used to.

In my circle of connections, family and friends of those family members, about 8 -9 Republicans, he has a 100% approval and most Republicans actually blame Democrats for the economy.
I don't understand it and I stopped trying. I absolutely do not believe the looks for a second. The last couple of presidential elections we trusted the polls, walked around holding hands with Republicans and it got us absolutely nothing. No such thing as a "never trumper". All Republicans are loyal to him and would throw themselves off a cliff for him if he asked them too.

Buy nothing from Tennessee, not even gas if your passing through. Spend nothing in Tennessee. Same with Alabama.

But someone who isn't on the committee wouldn't get priority over members of the public and attending wouldn't give them a vote.

has been appalling. I would like to see both of them continue in service to their constituents but TN is looking to shut them down and shut them out. Looks like they are succeeding in doing so. What a waste of intellect and talent. Maybe a position in the next Democratic WH administration??

influenced in that state? What can be boycotted? As an individual, I do not carry much weight when I call the state tourism board, the various distilleries, etc. .. Are economic boycotts even considered a viable option these days?

They don't deserve to be boycotted for this IMHO.

I haven't bought a bottle of Jack Daniels in several years, so it won't mean much if I give that up.
