Missouri Supreme Court upholds 2025 congressional redistricting map

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - The Missouri Supreme Court issued a ruling Tuesday in a closely watched legal challenge to the state’s congressional redistricting map that splits Kansas City into three separate districts.

The court affirmed a lower court ruling, finding the 2025 map does not violate the Missouri Constitution.

The court rejected challenges from two groups of Missouri residents who argued the map violated a section of the Missouri Constitution that requires congressional districts to be “contiguous territory as compact and as nearly equal in population as may be.” The consolidated cases challenged districts 4, 5 and 6, which divide the Kansas City metropolitan area.

Chief Justice Powell wrote that challengers “failed to show the 2025 map clearly and undoubtedly violates the requirements” of the state constitution.

MO's "supreme" court is packed with right-wing stooges; they could look at an elephant and tell you it's not an elephant, it's a mouse with a gland condition.

We voted to ban gerrymandering, the legislators and now the MO Supreme Court overturned our ban.

I'm tired of this crap. Every time we get a win the Republican legislators come in and vote to take it away.

My husband's job is here, and I love my little house and neighbors. It makes me sick to think

that people in this country think that people in Missouri want this--we do not! We only win in this country if

everyone gets a seat at the table. So Missourians, let's vote out as many of these vile, racist legislators as

possible in November. Turn out is key. Never give up, NEVER SURRENDER!
