Havoc as Trump triggers global shortage of world's 'most-consumed chemical'

President Donald Trump’s war against Iran – along with the resulting blockade imposed by both Tehran and Washington – has sparked fear among experts that the supply of the world’s “most-consumed chemical” may soon reach a “critical” shortage, The Wall Street Journal reported Saturday.

That chemical is sulfuric acid, which is relied upon in the production of “food, metal, paper, computer chips, clean water” and more – with a “large chunk” of the world’s supply of sulfuric acid coming directly from the Persian Gulf, the Journal reported.

“There’s only weeks, maybe if you’re lucky a month, planned for in their pipeline and storage,” said Kunal Sinha, who formerly managed a sulfuric-acid business for the mining firm Glencore, speaking with the Journal. “Supply-chain disruption, whether it’s a rail strike or the Strait of Hormuz being closed, is a problem.”

The partial closure of the Strait of Hormuz – a critical shipping waterway off the coast of Iran – has caused major disruptions in the flow of oil, with 20% of the world’s oil supply historically traveling through the strait. Beyond oil, the disruption of traffic through the strait has also sparked a shortage of helium, a resource that plays a critical role in applications ranging from semiconductor manufacturing to medical equipment.

You just need access to the mechanisms of democratic government, and the support of the most colossally moronic citizens of a once-great nation.

As people find out how much global events impact us here at home. Unintended consequences. Our enemies have ways to inflict economic pain upon us. There are good reasons why previous US presidents have chosen to avoid this type of conflict with Iran.

And those Europeans didn't rescue him like his dad always used to do. Iran's regime is still in power and won't quake in their Persian slippers when he makes idiotic threats. He's not bored, he's pissed and embarrassed that his 'brilliant' plan was such a stinking defeat before all the world. Pulled his best bully threats and the 4000 year old culture just poked fun at him with much better memes than he ever made.

Scares me to think what he might pull next in the vain attempt to make the world forget this huge HUGE BIGGLY failure.

The Middle East and especially Iran, were always portrayed as backwards countries with weird languages, strange forms of government and religion, but they needed to be kidded along because of the black goo in the ground.

If they misbehave, just bully them into submission.

Turns out Iran knows how to fight a war, and produces more than just crude oil.

All those years of misinformation upturned by recent events!
Trump is pissed!

What other delusions lurk in the minds of America?

Sulfuric acid is used in the alkylation process in refineries.

The U.S. manufactures sulfuric acid and imports it as well. Most imports are from Mexico and Canada.

What Middleeast does produce that is needed for the process is sulfur itself. Sulfur exports have been hampered.

These fucking people are stupid.
