STANLEY, N.M. More than two decades after she was sexually abused at Jeffrey Epsteins New Mexico ranch, Rachel Benavidez is still waiting for someone to be held responsible for crimes there.
She is among at least 10 girls and young women who have alleged they were groomed or assaulted at Zorro Ranch, Epsteins gated compound, beginning in the late 1990s. Benavidez and others said they were lured by promises of money or career help, then found themselves trapped, surrounded by miles of dry grassland with no neighbors in sight. They said they were groped, forced into nude massages, assaulted with sex toys, raped. They overcame paralyzing fear to share their ordeals again and again. And yet authorities have never fully investigated what happened at the ranch.
Until we are heard, until survivors are heard and believed, then I dont think theres ever going to be any justice, Benavidez, 52, said in a recent interview, her first since the Justice Department in January released millions of documents that brought renewed attention to Epsteins activities at the ranch, and missed opportunities to investigate them.
The disclosures, including an unsubstantiated anonymous claim that two foreign girls died during sex and were secretly buried on the property, prompted state authorities to launch new investigations this year a criminal case led by the New Mexico Department of Justice and a truth commission led by the state Legislature.

That's the only way to put Trump on his heels. Right now he has the world he can blow up in order to distract us. But if the military is already pushing him out of the situation room, it means it won't take much more before even his MAGAs walk away from him. But damn it. We need the victims to steadily come out each week with hard proof to keep the story moving forward.

(1,284 posts)This is NOT on the victims' back. Releasing their evidence without the imprimateur (sp?) of the legal process could likely bring harm to the victims.

There is video or still phot evidence of a ton of crime that the DOJ, state of Florida, etc have been covering up for years to protect the rich and powerful

(41,957 posts)The victims don't have proof other than their own stories of what happened to them.
For a long time these victims didn't know who the other victims were, until they were able to get together and share their stories with each other. I believe it's the lawyers who were able to make that happen. Most of the assaults happened 10 to 20 years ago, and different girls/women were at the ranch at different times. The victims have changed their names, moved away, some have married, etc.
