French ministers report Grok's sex-related content on the X platform to prosecutors

Source: Reuters

PARIS, Jan 2 (Reuters) - French ministers have reported to prosecutors sexually explicit content generated by Elon Musk's xAI artificial intelligence chatbot Grok on the X platform, saying in a statement on Friday the "sexual and sexist" content was "manifestly illegal".

Grok said earlier on Friday lapses in safeguards had resulted in "images depicting minors in minimal clothing" on social media platform X and that improvements were being made to prevent this.

The ministers said they had also reported the content to French media regulator Arcom for checks on whether the content complied with the European Union's Digital Services Act.

One of the most depressing things is that this happens constantly and blatantly and nobody seems to give a shit.

1. So, is Grok really Elon's Id or is it just a 'go with the right wing flo' kind of AI BS?

2. Seems like it would be fairly trivial to make an AI respond to requests to remove clothing from anyone in any picture

with a big fat "NO, I don't do that sort of thing". Hell, I'm pretty sure there's already some that do, like I bet Leonardo would shut you down immediately if you asked it to do that. And that seems like a very logical safeguard which will protect minors without having to expend (potentially a lot) of resources to determine the age of the face in the picture. Just make it always respond like "No, I don't take clothes off people in pictures, period". Seems simple!

4. One time I tried (in part out of curiosity) to have Leonardo make a political satire 'toon

It was after a particularly subby public declaration Trump had made towards Putin, and lets just say my prompt involved the words "Putin, Trump, and mild-BDSM themed clothing" and Leonardo was having none of it, with messages that were generic like "I don't portray famous figures with sexualized themes" types of things, like I didn't sense it was being "political", just that it has a policy against doing that sort of thing, period. And in the end I thought "that's good, actually".
