The Trump administration is lying about its efforts to obtain comprehensive voter registration data in Oregon, the Democratic National Committee (DNC) told a federal judge in the Beaver State.
In a 17-page amicus brief filed Tuesday, the DNC argues that a lawsuit filed by the U.S. Department of Justice, while stylized as a voting rights complaint, is both deceptive and legally off-base.
On Sept. 16, the DOJ sued Oregon on three counts, alleging violations of the National Voter Registration Act (NVRA), the Help America Vote Act (HAVA), and the Civil Rights Act (CRA) of 1960.
The lawsuit asks U.S. District Judge Mustafa Kasubhai, a Joe Biden appointee, to force Oregon officials to provide the Trump administration with "the current electronic copy of Oregon's computerized, statewide voter registration list, with all fields, including each registrant's full name, date of birth, residential address, and either their state driver's license number or the last four digits of their Social Security number."
