Russia launched a barrage of deadly missile and drone strikes on Ukraine on Wednesday, as President Volodymyr Zelensky arrived in Turkey hoping to revive peace talks that have been stalled for months.
At least 20 people were killed and some 66 wounded in the western Ukrainian city of Ternopil when a Russian missile hit a residential building, according to the Ukrainian emergency service. Such deadly attacks are relatively rare in western Ukraine, as Russia has focused most of its efforts on taking over parts of the east.
Mr. Zelensky said on social media that Russia had launched a major offensive overnight with 470 attack drones and 48 missiles, and he noted that energy, transport and civilian infrastructure had been hit.

.........................Mr. Zelensky said that Russias latest attacks on Ukraine showed that the pressure that had been put on Moscow was insufficient to force it to end the war, and he called for more military support.
The top priority is air defense missiles, additional systems, expanded capabilities for our combat aviation, and drone production to protect lives, he said.......................................................
