House GOP leaders pitch members on addressing 'Unaffordable Care Act'

House Republican leaders delivered a presentation to members Tuesday morning slamming the enhanced tax credits for the Affordable Care Act that are due to expire at the end of the year.

It comes as members of both parties and chambers are rushing to develop, and pass, legislation to lower health care costs by Dec. 31, when the Obamacare subsidies will expire and premiums are set to go through the roof.

There are multiple opinions among Republicans about whether the best path forward to keep the price of health care down involves extending the tax credits — possibly with some modifications to appease conservatives — or constructing an entirely new framework, like an overhaul of health savings accounts.

President Donald Trump weighed in Tuesday morning on behalf of the latter approach, saying “THE ONLY HEALTHCARE I WILL SUPPORT OR APPROVE IS SENDING THE MONEY DIRECTLY BACK TO THE PEOPLE, WITH NOTHING GOING TO THE BIG, FAT, RICH INSURANCE COMPANIES.” “Congress, do not waste your time and energy on anything else,” he wrote on Truth Social.

I assume that's the name of their own proposal - whenever they work that out (15 years and counting).

...healthcare is complicated.

What he is proposing--really--is a single-payer system with the government acting as the insurance company, but neither he nor any Republican would EVER support that.

So what is this other alternative where you send the money directly back to the people and it isn't to allow them to buy heath insurance?

How does he think the government would know how much to send each individual for "healthcare"?

Other countries have actually already worked through this Don Old. No need to reinvent the wheel.... And even if you did it would be a shape other than round--no doubt....

They’re left with nothing better to do than coming up with stupid disparaging names.
How embarrassing it must be… to be them.

for healthcare, where do you think they’ll go then? To the insurance companies you idiot! Before the ACA, the insurance companies put a cap on how much money the insurance companies would pay for your care. So, let’s say it’s $100,000, you reach that limit, then you’re done, no more coverage. Also, they could decide if you’re a high liability, if so, no insurance for you, or your premiums would be sky high! And pre-existing conditions, forget about it, you’re out! They could also drop you at their discretion! Coming your way folks, the GOP 2 week plan! They just can’t figure out that it’s much cheaper when you buy in a group rate and the bigger the group, the less expensive per person it becomes.
