GOP Lawmaker Claims He Has 'Repeatedly' Asked Mike Johnson To Bring Back The House To 'Get Us Out Of This Mess'

Source: msn/MEDIAite

12h

Rep. Kevin Kiley (R-CA) claimed on Fox News on Saturday that he has “repeatedly” asked House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) to bring the House back into session so lawmakers can work the country out of the government shutdown “mess.”

“No one is winning here when you’re looking at people who are losing their SNAP benefits. When you look at a million-plus federal employees being furloughed or missing paychecks. No one is winning here at all,” Kiley said. “What the American people want…they don’t care who’s to blame or who’s winning; they just want to make sure that they’re able to get access to the benefits that they deserve and that the government is actually open.”

Kiley added, “I don’t think it’s helped in any way, shape, or form that the House of Representatives has been recessed for the last six weeks — have actually canceled six weeks of sessions that we were supposed to be here.” Kiley said he wished the Senate would pass the “clean CR” passed by the House, but criticized Johnson for the extended House vacation, saying, “the fact that the House isn’t here has made it harder to find some common ground to get us out of this mess.”

Host Jonathan Hunt asked, “So you would ask Speaker Johnson to recall the House?” “Not only would I — I’ve asked him to do it repeatedly for the last six weeks,” Kiley proclaimed.

and they are in a mutual protection or political suicide pact.

We need to know more about Mikie's 'almost adopted son' from a while back. It might explain some things and even take Trump's power over him out of the situation.

Like most of the MAGAs, they are not interested in running the country. They are interested in making moronic slop content for Fox News. It's time to fire his sorry ass and tell Fox where they can shove it. The government isn't their property.

I see that you haven't signed the discharge petition. You can be the 218th signature and end the need to keep Garcia from being sworn in.

Maybe space aliens sucked him up into the mother ship. Maybe he's hiding from ICE because he is son of border crossers. Maybe he just won't talk to anybody but tax evading millionaires, but he ain't here and there has NEVER been a staffer in his locked local office here in I Can See Mexico.

Wondering how much taxpayers in this part of Ciscomani's district are paying for rent on that empty, unused office.

Then we can enjoy the spectacle of them voting 30 times to elect a new speaker in the middle of a shutdown. Republican voters waiting in food lines will love hearing about that. Maybe MTG can do it. She threatened before.

that will not break the power grip the GOP has on congress. But there is none. He decided to try to bury the Epstein files by shutting down, and he has backed himself into a corner. And there is no way out, unless he renounces Trump and convenes the House again, thereby allowing a vote that will release the Epstein files.. And the longer he refuses, the worse it gets for the GOP.
Poor poor Mikey.

Tennessee 7th special election coming up DEC 2. Safe bet Mike Johnson is praying like he never prayed before. If the GOP candidate wins, you can be sure Johnson will NOT make him wait to be sworn in like he has done to Arizona's Adelita Grijalva!

https://ballotpedia.org/Tennessee%27s_7th_Congressional_District_special_election,_2025]

If his praying doesn't work out for him, he will be back to preying on DEM district reps again.

He took them out of town because he couldn't seat Adelita Grijalva. And at the time, she would have become the last vote needed to pass a discharge petition to force DoJ to publish the FBI's Epstein files.

But that was a month ago. Things have really gone into the shitter for both Johnson and Trump. It seems that some people at the FBI have shown pictures of Trump molesting obviously underage girls, and now, reportedly, the discharge vote won't even be close. Some people are reporting there may be 100 GOP votes for the discharge.

So seriously, the only way Johnson can hold this off for Trump is to NEVER bring the House back. Obviously, something has to give. And at this stage, Dems would be wise to shut off talks with the Senate until the House comes back to work. We need to apply maximum pain to Johnson now. In other words, linking the Republican shutdown with the Trump-Epstein sex/extortion ring will give us the strongest position with the pub and the media.

because the Speaker and Rules Committee control the agenda.

HOWEVER, they should have been conducting "shadow government" hearings all along. This is a very normal think in the UK The opposition appoints shadow ministers (secretaries) for each of the main cabinet positions and they hold press conferences, conduct briefings and inquiries as best they can. A shadow panel wouldn't have subpoena power, but it is a god way to get our side of the story in front of the public.

We can certainly conduct hearings in rooms that look very official and we can call friendly witnesses. To the public, this would look just like any official hearing, as long as we don't hold it at Four Season Landscaping.

who said you can fool all of the people some of the time and some of the people all of the time but you can;'t fool all of the people all of the time. Smart man.

What they can;'t wrap their corrupt heads around is how the majority of Americans know damned full well the problem lies with Johnson and a bunch of rich men like Thiel telling him what to do, with the Republican Party following meekly behind. People know that without being informed by the nightly news, their newspapers (if they still read), their radios, or online. They just bloody welll know something stinks and where that stench is coming from

In addiution, people who realize they've been taken for a ride tend to resent being fooled for a very long time.
