Thousands of Kaiser Permanente workers in Hawaii vote to authorize strike

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The results are in for an authorization to strike vote held by unionized Kaiser Permanente Hawaii workers in Hawaii.

Hospitality and health care union UNITE HERE Local 5 said 97% of its members voted in favor of authorizing the strike.

Eighty-nine percent of members from three bargaining units of the Hawaii Nurses and Healthcare Professionals union also voted in favor.

Members of United Nurses Associations of California/Union of Health Care Professionals (UNAC/UHCP) also sided with the majority.
