Elon Musk calls for dissolution of parliament at far-right rally in London

Source: The Guardian

Elon Musk has called for a “dissolution of parliament” and a “change of government” in the UK while addressing a crowd attending a “unite the kingdom” rally in London, organised by the far-right activist Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, known as Tommy Robinson. Musk, the owner of X, who dialled in via a video link and spoke to Robinson while thousands watched and listened, also railed against the “woke mind virus” and told the crowd that “violence is coming” and that “you either fight back or you die”.

He said: “I really think that there’s got to be a change of government in Britain. You can’t – we don’t have another four years, or whenever the next election is, it’s too long. “Something’s got to be done. There’s got to be a dissolution of parliament and a new vote held.”

This is not the first time Musk has involved himself in British politics. He started a war of words with the UK government over grooming gangs and also criticised 2023’s Online Safety Act, calling the legislation a threat to free speech. He had a warm relationship with Nigel Farage, and there were even rumours he could channel a donation to his party before the Tesla boss called for the Reform UK leader to be replaced during a dispute over his support for Robinson. Musk told the crowd in central London: “My appeal is to British common sense, which is to look carefully around you and say: ‘If this continues, what world will you be living in?’

In addition to Musk, figures including Katie Hopkins and French far-right politician Éric Zemmour were invited to speak at the event.

Google AI:

The United Kingdom no longer has sedition laws, as the offence of sedition and seditious libel was abolished by Section 73 of the Coroners and Justice Act 2009. These laws, with origins in the 16th century, were originally used to criminalize speech or publications that challenged the government or Crown, aiming to prevent political dissent and maintain public order. While they existed to suppress criticism of the government and incite disaffection, these statutes were eventually recognized as a threat to free speech and were repealed

If the Tesla board had any guts or brains they would slash his compensation to nothing and, if possible, revoke his stock options.

Musk is footing Robinson's extensive legal bills for his criminal activities. So Robinson now acts as Musk's agent in the UK. This rally was made up of the people too far right for Farage's Reform UK companies. Musk is calling for "the dissolution of parliament" just because he doesn't like the politics of the government, and is too impatient to wait for his next present (at the moment, Reform UK is ahead in the polls, but Farage at least has the basic sense to see that this doesn't mean he can just call for a change of government). Whether Farage and Musk will vaguely cooperate is unclear - both have huge egos. Stirring up the threat of violence by the far right is Musk's way of staking his claim to its ownership.

Apparently he's not happy unless he is meddling in government, any government. He really comes across as some cartoon villain who wants to "rule the world".

Than all the world. Who the F*CK is Musk?

He's a nobody. All he has going for him is money, money given him by his daddy, big whoop to do. He isn't smart enough to even be subtle about his Nazism.

Don't listen to any billionaires. The only way they got there was through dead relatives, luck, cruelty and abusing the labor of others. No intelligence or skill needed.

Elon Musk weighing in on British politics like he’s some kind of empire-saving visionary is honestly peak cringe. The guy’s a billionaire tech bro cosplaying as a revolutionary, dialing into a Tommy Robinson rally like it’s Comic Con for Edgelords. Imagine being that rich, and still acting like the world’s biggest dork inserting himself into affairs that don’t even involve him. The UK doesn’t need a lecture from the self-anointed “meme king” of Mars, Elon should keep his nose out of other people’s business before he embarrasses himself any more than he already has.
