Margaret Brennan Challenges GOP Lawmaker With Republican Condemnation of RFK Jr.

Face The Nation’s Margaret Brennan challenged Sen. Roger Marshall (R-KS) — a trained physician — about why so many prominent Republicans have been denouncing Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s recent answers on vaccines during last week’s contentious Senate hearing.

Brennan played video of Republican Whip Sen. John Barrasso (WY) and the chair of the Senate Finance Committee Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-LA) — both of whom are also physicians — denouncing RFK Jr.’s record as Health and Human Services Secretary.

During the hearing, Barrasso addressed Kennedy, saying, “In your confirmation hearings you promised to uphold the highest standards for vaccines. Since then, I’ve grown deeply concerned. The public has seen measles outbreaks, leadership of the National Institute of Health questioning the use of mRNA vaccines, the recently confirmed director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention fired. Americans don’t know who to rely on.”

Brennan asked, “Why do you think they’re off-base in their concern?” “Look, President Trump picked Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to be a disrupter to the CDC, and that’s exactly what he’s doing,” Marshall answered. “He’s focused on making the CDC more transparent, to make it more trustworthy right now. Right now, Americans don’t trust the CDC. So, he is literally turning that place upside down.”
