RUIDOSO, N.M. Flooding is once again hitting the Ruidoso area, closing roads and wiping away at least one home.
A flash flood warning is in effect until 3:30 p.m. Lindsey Tharpe posted video of a home floating away on Paradise Canyon at Hart.

(110,810 posts)I can recall driving through there years ago. A once beautiful area of New Mexico, but sans help, can it be again?
But, the intermittent smoky air in my area reminds me of all the wildfires ongoing in Colorado (and how damned close they came to me last year) so I am saving a few of those prayers for my friends, neighbors, and fellow Coloradoans.
Best wishes to all in this time of climate change-driven disasters and a total lack of empathy from our government.

(73 posts)I have a sibling that works, well worked at Ruidoso Downs horse racetrac. It won't open again this season. It was just getting ready to open for the season, and it along with most if not all of Paradise Canyon how been wiped clean for the second time in less than month. This is following the catastrophic forrest fire and floods last year that ravaged the same area of town. After the fires, the ground became hydrophobic so it can't absorb any water at all.
