Trump hosted party for 'young women' where Epstein was the only guest: New York Times
Source: Raw Story

Donald Trump once hosted a party featuring "young women" where Jeffrey Epstein "was the only other guest," the New York Times reported over the weekend.
In an article titled "Inside the Long Friendship Between Trump and Epstein," Alan Feuer and Matthew Goldstein write that, "For nearly 15 years, the two men socialized together in Manhattan and Palm Beach, Fla., before a falling out that preceded Mr. Epsteins first arrest." Part of that article contains an interesting anecdote about the party.
According to the report, "when Mr. Trump hosted a party at Mar-a-Lago for young women in a so-called calendar girl competition, Mr. Epstein was the only other guest." The report cites George Houraney, a Florida-based businessman who arranged the event.
"Mr. Houraney recalled being surprised that Mr. Epstein was the only other person on the guest list," the report states before quoting the man. I said, Donald, this is supposed to be a party with V.I.P.s, Mr. Houraney told The New York Times in 2019. Youre telling me its you and Epstein?

I'm no prude but this pedo behavior is obscene. It's clear to me that he behaved like this for most of his life, having no thought to how it would look for an American "President" to be like this.
Now he's trying to cover it up and the media was complicit, for the most part. Until now. Now The New York Times, the Wall Street Journal and other corporate media are printing this stuff - because they HAVE TO!
Americans should be mortified and we should all hang our heads in shame. Whether we voted for him or not.

(156,830 posts)that was done to hound Biden for months about dropping out. I.e., the "drip, drip, drip".
In this case there are differences (outside of us knowing the media is generally owned by the RW so there is often a "catch" ) -
1.) 45 has no shame and "shaming" him failed in the past with the release of the Access Hollywood tapes and his macho manosphere base loved that type of bravado.
2.) However the thrust seems to be targeting his loon base, which itself has "factions", where the QAnon nuts based much of their philosophy on purported "pedophilia rings" and whatnot. They were convinced the rings were run by Democrats (prompting the whole "pizzagate" nonsense) and they literally spent 10 years indoctrinating their followers and others who became MAGats, where Epstein's mess fit right in perfectly with the CT, and they had anecdotal pics of Epstein and Clinton. So the files collected for Epstein's various run-ins with the law and trial, were promised to reveal all these high-level Democrats. But alas...
At this point, "it's a story" that is letting the tabloid media have a field day but is also allowing the RW M$M to effectively "bury" other stories dealing with the destruction of the U.S. government that is underway amongst a slow-acting court system and with the blessing of the Roberts SCOTUS.
Meanwhile the "manwhore" Muskrat is helping to fuel the discord (for his own benefit).

Now I suspect they are bringing this to the front because of trump's erratic economic policies, from the constantly changing uncertain tariff policies, to the blind deportations of undocumented people which are essential to many industries in the economy, not the least are the farmers.
No one should be surprised that the oligarchs are are trying to push trump out because they cannot control the sociopath, and having vance takes over makes perfect sense because they can control vance.
Anyone wonder if 60 minutes will do a story of the relationship between epstein and trump?

(57,163 posts)The fickleness of the public is a factor too. Media have algorithms they monitor, just like social media automates algorithms.
A tipping point arrives unplanned and unannounced and unforeseeable. Add a grain of sand at a time to the top of a pile and at some point there will be a little avalanche. When is not predictable.
The media report stories when they have them. Larger analysis pieces and opinions may be held back for effect, but even those are relatively random. CBS does not call up the LA Times and say "we've got some news but we want to release it at the same time you release some news; got any news?"
So the media reports on Blondi saying she has lists and documents on her desk. Then maga says something. Then tRump says something. Then Blondi says there is no list and there is nothing to see here. None of those reports are coordinated.
But the media does assign reporters to leads and stories according to interest. Now that there is a lot of public interest and social media chatter, you bet they are assigning more reporters to the story.
Nobody flipped a switch.

(4,663 posts)Elite meetings that influence media topics in 2025
While it's difficult to definitively say which specific "elite meetings" set media topics, several high-profile gatherings attract significant attention and discussions that often spill over into media coverage, shaping the narrative around important issues. Here are some examples from 2025:
World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting (Davos, Switzerland): The WEF brings together global leaders from business, government, civil society, and academia to discuss global challenges and potential solutions. Discussions at Davos often center on themes like global cooperation, economic growth, technological advancements (especially AI), and the climate crisis. These discussions, and the insights shared by prominent figures, can influence how these topics are framed and covered in the media throughout the year.
Bilderberg Meeting (Stockholm, Sweden): A private annual gathering of around 120-150 European and North American political and business elites, academics, and journalists. While operating under the Chatham House Rule, meaning discussions are kept confidential, the list of attendees and the broad themes discussed are often reported on. The 2025 meeting included topics like the transatlantic relationship, Ukraine, the US economy, Europe, the Middle East, the authoritarian axis, defense innovation, AI, deterrence and national security, proliferation, the geopolitics of energy and critical minerals, depopulation, and migration. The very secrecy of the meeting often fuels speculation and discussion in the media, particularly from those concerned about the influence of powerful groups on global affairs.
G7 Summit (Canada): This meeting of leaders from the seven largest advanced economies aims to address global economic and political issues. While achieving consensus among the G7 members can be challenging. The summit's ability to present a united front on issues like relations with Russia and China can also shape the media narrative around these topics.
Media and Journalism Conferences: Events specifically focused on the media industry, [and] can influence how issues are covered and framed in the media.
Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) meetings and initiatives: The CFR regularly convenes discussions, publishes analysis, and fosters dialogue on foreign policy and shape the way these are discussed in the media.
It's important to note that the influence of these meetings on media topics is complex and multifaceted. Media coverage is also shaped by other factors such as current events, public interest, and journalistic priorities.
Not mentioned is The Trilateral Comission, who's stated main goal is shaping aka "durecting" the global media narritives.

(23,915 posts)The Guardian article was written in March 2020. All this shit was public knowledge. The links to the article below. It's a pretty long article. Talks about trump, John Casablancas, epstein: that guy Marie was a doozy, and Casablancas too.
While suspicious of Epstein, Houraney was keen to have Trump as a business partner. A month earlier, in December 1992, Trump had met with Houraney and Jill Harth, who ran the pageant together. They were looking for a new sponsor for their contest, which each year saw models aged 16 to 22 compete to appear in wall calendars wearing bikinis and swimsuits while posing with classic cars. At dinner in the Plazas Oak Room, Harth, Houraney and Trump discussed moving the American Dream competition from Las Vegas to one of Trumps casinos. He wanted to build this into the biggest, the best thing that he could do. He was talking about television and pulling out all the contacts, Harth later said. Eventually, the pageant was held at Trump Castle in Atlantic City in November 1993, but for one year only.
The partnership soured and ended in two lawsuits, but for Trump it was a prelude to a series of more lucrative ventures in the beauty business. In 1996, he secured what the New York Daily News described as his most beautiful deal yet. After months of negotiations, Trump acquired the Miss Universe Organization in a reported $10m deal that handed him control of three large, well-established pageants: Miss Universe, Miss USA, and Miss Teen USA. Three years later, he founded Trump Model Management, poaching many staff from Elite.

Despite the complete lack of physical evidence or victim testimony, there are reasons why the hardcore conspiracy theorists are particularly sensitive to allegations of child sex abuse.
It's known, for instance that Bill Clinton and Donald Trump flew on the private plane of convicted child abuser Jeffery Epstein, external. Tony Podesta, the brother of the Clinton aide whose emails were hacked, was a friend of Dennis Hastert, a Republican politician who earlier this year was sentenced to 15 months in prison, and has admitted abusing boys. The Jimmy Savile scandal in the UK has featured in speculation as an example of a serial child abuser getting away with his crimes.

The above excerpt links to a Daily Beast article from back at the time they wrote their article (2016), with the below about Epstein (used the latest archived snapshot version) -

Editor's note: This article has been updated to reflect the withdrawal of Virginia Roberts Guiffre's allegations against Alan Dershowitz and the striking of the allegations from the court record by a federal judge.
For Jeffrey Epstein and his famous friends, the Aughts were a simpler time, when the businessmen, academics, and celebrities who counted themselves among the playboy philanthropists inner circle could freely enjoy the fruits of his extreme wealth and connections.
Epsteins little black book and flight logs read like a virtual Whos Who: Bill Clinton, Donald Trump, Larry Summers, Kevin Spacey, Prince Andrew, and Naomi Campbell all hitched rides on Epsteins private planes. Socialites and distinguished scientists went to visit Epsteins island in St. Thomas, and cavorted at epic dinner parties at his palatial townhousethen the largest privately owned residence in New York, as he liked to brag. There, they picked at elaborate meals catered by celebrity chefs like Rocco DiSpirito, marvelled at Epsteins opulent decor, and noted the pack of very, very young model-types with whom Epstein always seemed to surround himself.
But a darker story was going on underneath the glamour. In 2008, Epstein was convicted of soliciting sex from an underage girl and quietly paid settlements to scores of alleged victims who said he serially molested them. But the girls kept coming out of the woodworkin 2014, another young woman filed a lawsuit claiming that Epstein used her as a sex slave for his powerful friendsand that shed been at parties on his private island with former President Clinton.
And just last week, yet another Jane Doe filed a suit in New York accusing Epstein and Donald Trump of raping her at a series of sex parties when she was only 13.

In the swirl of money and sun-tanned women that was their Palm Beach-and-Manhattan set, Donald J. Trump and Jeffrey Epstein spent nearly 15 years mingling side-by-side as public friends.
There were lavish dinners with boldface names at Mr. Epsteins mansion on the Upper East Side and raucous parties with cheerleaders and models at Mr. Trumps private club and residence at Mar-a-Lago. In between, there were trips back and forth from Florida to New York on one of Mr. Epsteins private jets.
But behind the tabloid glamour, questions have lingered about what Mr. Trumps long association with Mr. Epstein says about his judgment and character, especially as his allies have stoked sinister claims about Mr. Epsteins connections to Democrats. After their relationship ruptured, the disgraced financier ended up behind bars not just once, but two times, after being accused of engaging in sex with teenage girls.
One of the young women who later said Mr. Epstein groomed and abused her was recruited into his world while working as a spa attendant at Mar-a-Lago. Another accuser recalled being eyed by Mr. Trump during a brief encounter in Mr. Epsteins office, and claimed that Mr. Epstein had told Mr. Trump at the time that shes not for you.

Feel so bad that these women have been denied justice for so long. (And still are)
Women of America know damn well these kinds of men. Why we would still pick the bear.
FakeNoose
(37,916 posts)In many cases the girls were recruited from broken homes, parents missing, some were failing school or dropped out completely. The promise of money and acting jobs, or modelling jobs, was enticing to the girls. Their parental oversight was lax or non-existent. In some cases parents worked multiple jobs and the kids were on their own.
These weren't girls being raised in middle-class homes, you know? They weren't college-bound for sure. Ghislaine Maxwell and other adults knew how to recruit these teenage girls and get them to comply. It was shockingly easy to get one girl to recruit her friends, once she was "in the fold."
Epstein had no interest in boys, but he might have procured boys for some of his wealthy clients, if that was their interest. I don't know because the news stories haven't said anything about it. Whenever the DoJ documents are finally released I guess we'll find out.
