Judge demands answers from Trump admin after it's accused of deporting migrants just 2 days after it was ordered not to

A federal judge in California has ordered the Trump administration to cough up information about whether it violated a court order by deporting a migrant who was recognized in a class-action family separation settlement just days after ICE was blocked from removing class members.

The American Civil Liberties Union filed a motion last week asking U.S. District Judge Dana Sabraw to order the government to produce information about whether class members recognized in the 2023 family separation policy settlement were being deported after learning about the migrant's removal and another deportation that allegedly occurred days earlier of a 13-year-old Guatemalan class member, his mother and two relatives.

The Biden-era settlement led to legal services and support being provided to migrants who were separated under President Donald Trump's zero tolerance immigration policy implemented during his first term. ACLU lawyers came forward in June and accused the Trump administration of violating the settlement agreement in various ways, including the removal of the 13-year-old. On June 27, Sabraw ruled that the administration was violating it, and he ordered officials to stop. The judge also halted deportations of class members while the ACLU litigation continues.

Two days after putting the block in place, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement deported an individual that the ACLU has identified as A.M.R.F., who was separated from his family at the U.S.-Mexico border during Trump's first term, according to the ACLU.

Give them a taste of their own medicine.

I heard Kristi the Ghoul Noem saying that it's great to deport people to third countries that "offer them hospitality". You know, gulag hospitality.

Is responsible for enforcement of criminal contempt and Bondi’s DOJ would just ignore the judge. Civil contempt with massive, escalating fines is something the judge can currently do.

The middle finger what then? It's back to Noem. It's a catch22. And it always gets back to kristi doing the job of protecting trump instead of law and justice. What is a judge to do in this scenario? It's not like he has enforcement rights. We have a broken dismantled govt. We are living in a dictatorship encircled by an autocracy.

They will absolutely continue to give the middle finger to the law until judges start locking them up for contempt. Enough "do this again and there will be consequences." Let them squeal all they want. I'm tired of their whining.

to jail contemptuous lawyers right in court. Quit with warning after warning - give them one chance and that's all.
Start doing that when Trump's lawyers and the DOJ start playing games, and that crap will end quick.
Schedule those trials at the end of the work day on Friday, so the lawyer has to spend the week end in jail..

They just do whatever they want to, with no regard for the law or how it will impact anyone. "Floods in Texas, let's shut down FEMA. Court orders not to deport, let's deport anyway. Screw the law."

Trump has all but declared war on the US.

I'd say he has declared war, including militarily invading blue states. The only he hasn't done is drop bombs. Hopefully people recognize the situation before it gets that far.

I don’t think most people have still grasped the reality that we are in a dictatorship.

Or autocracy, not really sure what the difference is.

just to get it on the record that Bondi, Noem, et al refused to perform their duties.

At some point it will be prosecutable. In the meantime, let them wonder when that will be.

Wait till you have an enforcement agency somewhere willing to back you up before making announcements. Every time one of your orders or edicts go unheated you simply look weaker.
