California won't comply with Trump demand for state to ban trans athletes

Source: San Francisco Chronicle

California’s Department of Education told the Trump administration on Monday that it will not sign a resolution agreement that would have required the state to ban transgender athletes from competing on teams that match their gender identity, and issue apologies to biologically female athletes who’d lost competitions to transgender girls.

Last month, the U.S. Department of Education announced it had found California’s Department of Education and the California Interscholastic Federation, the entity that governs high school sports, were violating Title IX by allowing transgender athletes to compete on teams that match their gender identity. The landmark federal law prevents sex discrimination in public and private schools that receive federal funding. The federal agency did not release its investigation or provide any details articulating how it made the determination.

The Trump administration said it was offering California the chance to come into compliance within 10 days by banning transgender girls from girls sports, and restoring any prize won by a transgender athlete to the next-placing biological female athlete.

In a two-sentence response Monday, the California Department of Education’s general counsel told the federal Department of Education’s Office of Civil Rights that it disagreed with its analysis, and “will not sign the Proposed Resolution Agreement.”

More info from the Phila Inquirer

UPenn is a private university. It “Stalin purged” a trans swimmer from the record books in a settlement with its regrettably most famous alum.

3. WOW! I have to say I am surprised by this news. I thought they would fold at the threat of fed funds being cut

I very much respect this bold stand by the CA Dept of Ed. At the same time, I *REALLY* hope there's also a lawsuit demanding that federal funds must not be cut in response, because, well, *all* the students and teachers very much need that money, and it is extremely FUCKED UP to try to take it away. But then, that's Mango Mussolini and his MASA cult in a nutshell

8. What's this obsession with trans athletes?

It seems to be an absolute fixation. Among other things, there are so few cases that it's absurd to waste resources like this.

Like his parents (or whoever was the adult in charge when he was little) either neglected to do, or just gave up early-on, possibly recognizing a really bad seed at its earliest manifestations.

Just a guess on my part. I’ll never completely understand the donald, except in all the most negative ways.
