The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) was activated in Texas after President Donald Trump signed a Major Disaster Declaration for Kerr County.
Flash floods tore through the Guadalupe River corridor Friday morning, killing at least 59 people, including 38 adults and 21 children. Many remain unaccounted for, including 11 children missing from Camp Mystic.
FEMA will work with Texas state and local authorities to aid in the search and rescue efforts, according to a U.S. Homeland Security press release sent out Sunday morning.

A Dallas teenager who was safe from flood waters at Camp Mystic is heartbroken for fellow campers who didnt survive the deadly Texas Hill Country flooding.
The families of three North Texas children say their daughters were among those who did not survive the flash flooding at Camp Mystic Friday in the Texas Hill Country. Two others say their daughters are still missing.
Before dawn Friday, heavy tropical rain over Central Texas filled the Guadalupe River, which rose 26 feet in about 45 minutes. In the darkness, the wall of fast-moving water then indiscriminately washed people, homes, vehicles and trees downstream.................................

(929 posts)what would Abbott's response be for NOT requesting FEMA? He'd be sued for not relying on all available resources. I assume he'll start using the term FEMA? I wonder how much begging he needed to do.

is now praising Trump for doing what should come naturally, in PROPERLY responding to this horrific tragedy,
and for trying to fix yet something ELSE they've BROKEN.
Hopefully they won't be discriminatory (for want of a better word) in DOING THE RIGHT THING in respose to disasters in America, WHEREVER they occur.

(929 posts)supplement funds for subsequent disasters after Hurricane Helene. MAGA MIKE not only didn't do that, he sent Congress home. And he refused to reconvene Congress when the next hurricane bore down on FL. Obvious that Trump was hoping to make Biden look like a failure before the election. In particular, the Maggots wanted to win NC and were willing to make disaster victims suffer and stew in their anger for that party's benefit. Too bad those mountain folk bought into the ruse at their own expense, but so it goes in a red neighborhood.
Tillis retiring seems like payback.
But in answer to your question, no, I don't believe Maga Mofo Mike ever added supplemental funds to FEMA, knowing that Trump's plan was to ax the program once in office. Without the extra funds in this magnitude of a disaster, MOFO and TACO could be setting up FEMA for failure.

It happened in NC thanks to the knuckledragging Trump worshipers there. Don't copycat. You've got 30 days to request immediate cash assistance...$750. That's for your immediate needs.
There will be more funding for you as soon as the Florida concentration camps, spent on migrants, can be sold for scrap metal. So hold your horses.
