WASHINGTON, July 5 (Reuters) - An F-16 U.S. fighter jet on Saturday intercepted a general aviation aircraft that violated a temporary restriction of the airspace over U.S. President Donald Trump's golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey, the U.S military said in a statement.
The North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) said the incident, which occurred around 2:39 p.m. (1839 GMT), marked the fifth unauthorized incursion of the restricted airspace on Saturday.
A spokesperson confirmed the jet was an F-16.
NORAD aircraft conducted a so-called headbutt maneuver to get the civilian pilot's attention and the aircraft was safely escorted out of the area, NORAD said in a statement.

I've noticed he has all but abandoned Bedminister and has been using Sterling, his place closest to D.C. that I continually posted about during his first term, wonder why he never used that.

(6,564 posts)It super sucks that the G.O.P. billionaire makes US taxpayers foot the bill for his luxury golf outings.
it's already cost us about $55 million so far this year,
G.O.P. sure likes to squander our money on luxuries for the rich,
while stomping out the food programs for the hungry.

(3,374 posts)No Air Force 1, make every federal employee fly coach. I secretary and the guy with the football.
Democrat or Republican, I want the POTUS having to spend 7 hours next to a colicky baby. I want anyone getting a federal salary to have to take the bus or the cheapest rental car. I want to *NEVER* hear about traffic being blocked off, or flights impacted by someone who should feel LUCKY to be my servant.
I want no elected official to have any more security, or privelege than I have. We already pay them too damned much and they get free rent, too.
F-Trump, F anyone who wants or thinks they need a lifestyle beyond that of a retail clerk and wants taxpayers to pay for it.
Presidents, senators, congresspeople, they should be treated no better than real workers like teachers and janitors.

(157,323 posts)I wouldn't be able to speak for the appointees and GS-1000s, but when I was a civil servant grunt, I had to fly "coach" - GSA contracted with airlines for such flights and those had to be used or you paid for it yourself (without government reimbursement).

(9,219 posts)Continuity of government counts!
There are very few in government who rate planes, they have been misused but rarely, until the Trump Presidencies. Members of Congress , both House and Senate fly commercial uncles on a CODEL. The Speaker, the President of the Senate, the great majority of cabinet secretaries, all commercial, the average government employee, Coach. Maybe look at the facts before posting

As for privately owned or corporate jets, they file financial disclosures. They just have to be looked up.

Exactly one month later, strong winds, tornadoes and wildfires wreaked havoc across Kansas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Arkansas and Mississippi, leaving 34 people dead. Trump again did not visit but instead spent that weekend at his course in West Palm Beach, Florida, and the following weekend at his club in Bedminster, New Jersey.
And on May 16, tornadoes and heavy rain again ravaged Missouri and Kentucky. This time, 25 people died, but again, Trump did not go to either state in the coming days but did manage a round of golf at his course in Virginia that weekend, and at Bedminster the weekend after.

Trump, who is 78, added a post with a few images of himself from the big day early Monday morning.
Trump was on the course as severe storms battered the Midwest and South over the weekend. Dozens of people died across several states, tornadoes ravaged homes, and tens of thousands of people were left without power. The president did post about the storms later on Sunday, after he gloated about his round of golf.

(157,323 posts)he seems to be using Sterling more where in the past, he was at Bedminster continually and completely avoided Sterling.
I just found this - 12 trips to Sterling and 7 to Bedminister - List of presidential trips made by Donald Trump (2025)
(the most was to FL but I think that was also because the list starts in January with the inauguration and obviously includes the normal "winter" trips to FL, which is also considered his "official" residence)

(157,323 posts)that after the seizures at Mar-a-lago, there was a lot of chatter about whether classified docs were being stored at Bedminister and I'm thinking it was possible it WAS checked out (quietly) and that put some paranoia in them about going back there too frequently for "important" stuff.
The other thing is that he no longer has that lease with the Old Post Office in D.C. (supposedly "sold" it in 2022 - although I don't know how you "sell" a GSA lease... but whatever), and that is where he "conducted business" that first term.
