AOC humiliates Pete Hegseth after tweet congratulating him on not leaking Iran attack information

Source: The Independent

Monday 23 June 2025 09:13 EDT

Praise poured in for Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth after he didn’t leak U.S. plans to bomb Iranian nuclear sites – a low standard Democrats were quick to mock.

Newsmax host Todd Starnes applauded Hegseth’s efforts on X, writing, Not a single leak. Well done, @SecDef” seemingly referencing the so-called “Signal-gate” scandal. The incident saw the editor-in-chief of The Atlantic added to a group chat with national security officials, including Hegseth, as a drone strike got underway against Houthi rebels in Yemen.

Critics of President Donald Trump’s administration, led by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, held back any praise for the embattled Defense Secretary.

“This is like applauding a grown man for being able to wipe their behind,” the New York Democrat wrote on X. “Not exactly a vote of confidence.”

Maybe there were no "leaks" because they actually announced the attack to Iran ahead of time, as has been reported LymphocyteLover Jun 2025 #15

Some reporter or congressperson to ask Hegseth how he’s enjoying sobriety. After all, he vowed to never drink again if he became SecDef…

[Bonus factoid: Marines selected to stand watch at the Tomb of the Unkown Soldier take a vow to never drink or swear again, even after they leave the post or the Corps.]

Sorry, the above “factoid” is incorrect. The swearing/drinking restrictions are just an internet meme. I’ll be more careful in the future.

I was going by multiple unique posts I have seen online. They are wrong. I apologize for the error.

While they are impressive, they do not have lifetime bans on alcohol, TV, or profanity (though they aren’t allowed to swear in public while serving). They also didn’t continue their watch through a hurricane.

Some research that I should have done brought me this Reuters article:
https://www.reuters.com/article/world/fact-check-tomb-of-the-unknown-soldier-sentinels-must-observe-rigorous-protocol-idUSKBN2322C3/

For those curious, here is a little bit about the selection criteria and training process:

And I thought submarine quads were hard!

G.O.P. magats love to posture about being all 'manly' and stuff,
unlike authentically competent and confident men.
