for me. I've hit that age where I've expected the small cabal of my favorite artists and musicians to play off into the final coda. Brian Wilson is the first one of them to hit that dark note.

As an aside, it was his (relatively) recent LP, No Pier Pressure that pulled him up into my Top 10 (now a Top 9).

Musicians dropping like flies the last decade. All of The Band, John Prine, so many others. As a nearly 70 year old, it is inevitable to have so many music heroes leaving the world

and saw the breaking banner from multiple sources.

There is a whole generation in that age group who were they trend and style-setters. The Beach Boys definitely patented a "sound" that was all their own (with all those who tried to copy it).

R.I.P.

ETA - they had so many popular songs but will add this here -

Pet Sounds was a pioneering album.

One time, it was ranked #2 by Rolling Stone.

Even though it is a commercial, this is a clip of multiple musical artists singing parts of God Only Knows.

Paul McCartney - “It was later…it was Pet Sounds that blew me out of the water. First of all, it was Brian’s writing. I love the album so much. I’ve just bought my kids each a copy of it for their education in life—I figure no one is educated musically ’til they’ve heard that album. I was into the writing and the songs."

because that music, which is timeless, was the soundtrack of the baby boomers' youth including mine. Brian had so many tragedies; the poor man couldn't catch a break. He was a survivor, and I am sure every day he asked himself how he ended up outliving his brothers and making it to old age.

Brian Wilson will never be forgotten.
