Britain intercepted Russian aircraft over Baltic Sea in recent days

Source: Reuters

Britain said on Sunday two of its fighter jets had intercepted Russian aircraft over the Baltic Sea close to NATO alliance airspace in separate incidents on Tuesday and Thursday.

The Typhoon fighters were scrambled to intercept a Russian Ilyushin Il-20M "Coot-A" intelligence aircraft on Tuesday, Britain's Ministry of Defence said in a statement.

Two day later, two Typhoons intercepted an unknown aircraft leaving Kaliningrad air space, it said.

Minister for the Armed Forces Luke Pollard said with Russian aggression growing and security threats on the rise, Britain was stepping up to reassure its allies, deter adversaries and protect its national security.

Air intercepts are easy. Better start worrying about all the anchor dragging ships breaking undersea cables. dutch777 Sunday #1

The Russians have been using remote controlled tractors from submarines in the Baltic for decades locating strategic cables, pipelines and other key undersea infrastructure that would be useful to disrupt in the event of conflict. Or even just for the fun of it as there are no consequences other than bad PR. Like the hacking attacks from bad state actors these acts should be looked at as acts of war and have major sanctions tied to them but for some reason we are not going there. Now foreign flagged civilian freighters can drag their anchors for a hundred miles and it's basically treated as an ooops. Not good messages to send.

training for flight crews and detection stations. In addition, the signals intelligence that is intercepted during the takeoff and flight of these aircraft are also vital information. Even routine conversations between aircraft and ground crews reveal important information about protocols and procedures that will be useful in the event of an actual conflict. If interceptions are "easy," that means defenses are up and working effectively.

A newest Russian Sub was forced to surface due to a nuclear leak. It was viewed and pictured for the first time ever and it frightened the U.S. Navy. It was the weirdest shaped sub ever seen. It was a catamaran shaped sub with a large void section, running the entire length that looked like it was designed to straddle a three foot underwater cable........It was near one of the massive internet/communication from Europe to the U.S. Some news agency showed the pictures of the disabled and surfaced sub, and said they had turned them over to the U.S. Navy.....

You can be sure those pictures puckered a bunch assholes in Washington DC

At the same time, it was rumored that Russia had built a fleet of nuclear sub drones, with nuclear weapons. All unmanned and capable of staying submerged indefinitely. They could position them a few hundred yards off our coasts, and settle them on the ocean floor just waiting.......
