Source: NJ.com
U.S. Rep. Donald Norcross is recovering from a gallbladder infection that progressed to sepsis, his doctor said Tuesday.
Norcross, D-1st Dist., underwent surgery to remove his gallbladder and is being treated for the infections, said Dr. Eric Kupersmith, chief physician executive at Cooper University Health Care.
Congressman Norcross is responding well to treatment, but faces an extended recovery that could require physical rehabilitation, Kupersmith said.
Norcross, 66, was taken to the hospital on April 7 after he experienced a medical episode on a flight, his office said.

(20,504 posts)Several of my family members have had gall bladder problems. I had mine removed in early 2018. Gall bladder attacks are hard to deal with, and the doctor said there was no way to predict what would set off another one. I didn't want that hovering over me, so I had surgery.
Wishing Rep. Norcross well.

(16,175 posts)gallbladder problems starting in 2005. I finally figured out it was my gallbladder after an aunt of mine had similar symptoms. Finally the doctor listened to me and ordered tests and they found out my gallbladder had quit functioning pretty much-I had no gallstones. In talking to the surgeons nurse, I found out she had the same issue years before and she had met other patients whose gallbladders just stopped working. She also said they were seeing many more young people (teens and early twenties) with gallbladder issues.

(16,175 posts)I believe it was called biliary dyskinesia. I had forgotten what it was called its been so long ago. The also did something called a HIDA test that helped make the diagnosis.

diarrhea a lot, could not eat spicy food, greasy food, dairy. I lost a lot of weight, which I couldnt afford to lose. I got down to 83 pounds and had weighed around 94 before it started. I think it was called biliary dyskinesia. They did a HIDA scan that detected abnormality in the way bile was released from gallbladder.
