Fannie Mae said Tuesday it fired more than 100 employees for unethical conduct. Since my swearing-in, we fired over 100 employees from Fannie Mae who we caught engaging in unethical conduct, including facilitating fraud, against our great company, William J. Pulte, chair of Fannie Maes board of directors, said in a statement.
Anyone who commits fraud against Fannie Mae does so against the American people, he added. In his Tuesday statement, the Pulte said under the Trump administration there would be no room for fraud, mortgage fraud or any other deceitful act that can jeopardize the safety and soundness of the housing industry.
Pulte was sworn in on March 14 after being appointed by President Trump. Fannie Mae CEO Priscilla Almodovar praised the move. I would like to thank Director Pulte for his empowering of Fannie Mae to root out unethical conduct, including anyone facilitating fraud, Almodovar said. We hold our employees to the highest standards, and we will continue to do so.
Further details on the firings were not revealed. However, Pulte did note that the agency reduced 25 percent of staff as ordered by the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

(3,174 posts)Nepo-baby MAGat appointee translates in my parlance to...
A Y'all Qaeda fascist Nat-C shat out of the orange shit-gibbons ass.
Which also describes the whole of the GOP.
Any time a member of the GOP does anything that appears rational...
It is only to preserve their own power, wealth and personal pleasure.
There is no such thing as a moderate fascist.
There is no such thing as a well reasoned fascist.
Fascism is delusion by definition.
Here's to the return of reason's rule.

(67 posts)then fire them all. But make the proof public. There is enough doubt in the government these days, let's see the metrics and evidence used to prove fraud.

(26,539 posts)Wow, just wow! How convenient. However, Fannie Mae CEO Priscilla Almodovar, who joined FM in 2022 never discovered the massive fraud?
Hope all 100 accused sue the pants off that A-hole for defamation if in fact this was just a set-up and false accusations to justify staff terminations.
Wonder Why
(5,539 posts)he took the credit. Things like this don't take weeks. They take months and years because an honest government wants to be sure that offenders' rights are maintained and there is no evidence as far as I know that Priscilla Almodovar hadn't been the one to deserve credit. A hundred employees from an organization that lost 25% of its staff to NutaMusk is more an indication that it was legitimate than if a majority of the fired employees were all dismissed for that reason.
I hope a good investigating reporter looks into this and talks with Ms Almodovar to get at the truth. Pulte may have done the firing but that's the end of the investigation, not the beginning.

(26,539 posts)However, how convenient that it came to fruition just as Mr. Pulte takes over the reins. Also, OVER 100 employees "engaging in unethical conduct, including facilitating fraud". I worked in a large organization. There were so many checks and balances that should have sent sirens going off if anything like that was happening. Plus those who were not involved would have been aware and reported it to management.
You may be absolutely correct but having worked in a very large financial institution for many years, something like that involving that many staff, with audits and reviews, just would not have happened. I have a hard time believing it happened at Fannie Mae with the timing of the announcement of the fraud at just the right time.
