WASHINGTON A Democratic lawmaker from Texas who filed impeachment articles against President Donald Trump during his first term is vowing to do it again within the month.
Rep. Al Green, who was kicked out of the president's recent joint congressional address for standing and yelling in protest, said at one of the many anti-Trump demonstrations held across the country Saturday that he'll file the longshot motion in the next 30 days.
"He is a Goliath," Green said, referring to Trump at a rally in the nation's capital. "But my friends, my friends, for every Goliath there is a David."
He continued: "I want you to know, Mr. President, this David is going to bring articles of impeachment against you within the next 30 days."

He apparently reiterated this at a rally yesterday as I had heard he was planning to do this anyway.

(1,185 posts)I love seeing this! We need more to do this. If nothing else, the protests this weekend should show our elected reps that we have their backs! Impeach Trump!

(19,701 posts)You lose every shot you don't take.
The playing field has changed significantly and will change more in the short term.
We do not know what the situation is in the House. He is there and he knows things we do not. I respect him and appreciate him and will support every chance to stop this destruction.
I'm not saying it will or won't prevail. I don't know but no one else does either.
Giving up is foolish.
Bless him!

(1,387 posts)The same way that Corey Booker's 25 hour long "filibuster" speech helped get Dems off the couch this past weekend and
onto huge protests.
We make the news in a good way when we're angry.
We need to do sh*t instead of just taking it.
Right now, if sh*t works, great!
If it doesn't work, it's other effect is for Dems to be seeing Dems going on offense & actively engaging the other side..

(173 posts)should enthusiastically join the effort. Not just the "Democrat who shouted at Trump".
Trump definitely needs to be impeached and removed from office. There's only one way to accomplish that.

(329 posts)Starting at 15:30, listen to the poll with questions I wanted to hear/see!!
One question that tickled my funny bone was,
Should trump obey court orders he doesn't agree with?
83% say YES!!!
When I called for a national poll or petition on a "recall" of the current resident, I was inaccurate in calling it a recall since there is no current provision for this action, thanks, BumRushDaShow.
But that doesn't mean we can't add a provision for presidential recall in the aftermath of this crisis, like the important changes in law after nixon's resignation. We can recall governors and other officers, why not dementia-ridden felons who become president? We definitely need to strengthen what used to be called presidential "norms", that our current resident ignores willy nilly.

(329 posts)I definitely felt a shift in myself and in the American zeitgeist. I had enough and I sensed the same about our country.
I was looking for a poll that asked precise questions to uncover how we as loyal Americans were feeling.
This poll mentioned in Rachel's broadcast was well formulated and gave me answers.
LETS CELEBRATE!

(329 posts)The time for half measures is long past.
BumRushDaShow
(151,112 posts)at least those who respond to them. But they would have no LEGAL effect, so it wouldn't really even be considered a "half measure", but a "no measure" except for establishing the opinion of the respondents.
But it needed to be clarified here, since a number of people aren't aware that there is no actual "recall" authority for Congress or the President.
There is some analogous mechanism in countries with Parliamentary systems of government, where the natives can get restless, and the elected party members who helped to form the government (and who were the ones who SELECTED the Prime Minister), can push for their PM to call a "snap election", and that head of state might step down at that point or wait for the results of the election to decide whether they can remain or must leave.
