Rally in support of Social Security - Tuesday Sept 2nd, Newport

TUESDAY SEPTEMBER 2, 2025
3:30 PM to 5:30 PM
130 Bellevue Ave, Newport, RI

We rally to protect SOCIAL SECURITY, and bring awareness to the damage being done by DOGE. We rally to show support for the SSA staff.

For months, we have warned that DOGE was putting our data at risk. Last week, a whistleblower revealed that DOGE did indeed handle our data carelessly. Our privacy rights were guaranteed by statute when Social Security was signed into law in 1975, and are protected by the Privacy Act of 1974. On Friday that whistleblower resigned from the SSA, due to the treatment he received at the agency, after having "blown the whistle". We are grateful to the whistleblower and all of those in government who stand up to the take over in DC.

Please stay on the sidewalks, and respect all private property. The plaza where the SSA office is located is private property.

We will bring extra signs. I am going to make signs specific to the actions by DOGE. We need to demand a high level (white hat) forensic IT audit to track how our data was (mis)handled.

I continue to post these and other local rallies on my FB page: Accidental Activist, Rhode Island.
