Moulton Mayor Roger Weatherwax qualifies to run for re-election

Last month, Roger Weatherwax, who has served as Mayor of the City of Moulton since 2016, qualified to run in the city’s 2025 municipal election. He’s joining the race to be re-elected to his current office.

The following excerpt is from a written statement provided to this newspaper by Mayor Weatherwax concerning his candidacy in this summer’s upcoming election.

“First and foremost, I would like to remind the citizens of Moulton how very important it is to vote in the upcoming municipal election to be held on August 26, 2025. Next, I, Roger Weatherwax, would like to ask for your vote in the Mayor’s Race for the City of Moulton. Over the past nine years I have proudly served as the Mayor of Moulton. At present, the City has a number of on-going projects and submitted projects waiting for approval that I have been ‘hands on’ from the beginning and would like to see carried out and completed. There are grants that have been applied for and approval is pending that my staff and I are excited to see and hope to come to fruition. These grants support infrastructure throughout Moulton, including the repaving of 30+ miles of city roads, widening of roads, and improving curbing and drainage on city streets. Another grant waiting for approval is for the Parks and Recreation Department for a new splash pad, walking trail, bathrooms, outdoor picnic area, and upgrades to the disc golf course. The Moulton emergency personnel departments have submitted a grant for multi-agency improved training courses and additional resources for our departments to better serve the community. Lastly, we have several additional upgrades in waiting for senate funding for our utilities and parks throughout the city.”

“I am proud to say that I was born and raised in Lawrence County, specifically the City of Moulton. I raised my family in this beautiful city I call home. I want nothing more than to watch it grow and keep heading in the right direction. Since 2016, I have been a full-time mayor working with city employees daily to improve city services for Moulton and its citizens. My office is open to the public and I am always willing to listen to any concerns citizens may have. When you head to the polls to cast your vote on August 25, 2025, I ask that you please consider voting for another four years of progress and growth in the city of Moulton. Please vote Roger Weatherwax for the 2025 City of Moulton Mayor’s race.”
