Such an important position at this time in our history deserves more than ten minutes per Senator, in my opinion.
But, I doubt that any amount of questioning time would change the minds of any Republicans. Just rubber-stamp his confirmation and move on, I guess?
It is a disservice to our country and to the people of this nation, in my opinion.
They have all made up their minds already and it is doubtful that any of them would change with any amount of evidence.
If what they have seen thus far is not enough, any further debate would just be a waste of time.

They are actually doing their jobs.

(966 posts)If they made their questions more brief the nominee would have more time to respond.

(34 posts)These hearings have been trending downward for decades, but in the era of Trump, they are now farce.
Blanche is proudly a political hack who is going to operate as Trump's hatchet man. This is known. He is not going to openly admit this under oath, because he is not a moron. But no senator is asking him a question based on some nuance in his understanding of anti-trust law.
We really aren't even looking at vagaries of personal ethics.
And there is no presumption that anyone is attempting to learn anything. Because what on earth are you going to learn from Blanche in this? I doubt he's going to read the Enemies List that Trump likely gave him.
This is a performance largely for Collins, Murkowski, Tillis, Cassidy, and maybe Cornyn.

(30,425 posts)...to ANY question if he were waterboarded. 10 minutes, 20 minutes, 24 hours - wouldn't make any difference.
