Police in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, body slammed a woman who was protesting the presence of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in her community, throwing her to the ground and giving her a concussion.
Video posted on social media shows law enforcement forcefully grabbing Iowa resident Annya Mari and throwing her to the floor. The July 7 incident occurred when police told her that they would be handcuffing her, which sent Mari and an unidentified woman into a state of confusion.
What? She didnt do anything, the second woman, who was recording the encounter, yelled as law enforcement grabbed the woman before picking her up and slamming her on the floor. It remains unclear whether the person recording the video has a connection to Mari. It comes after the chilling last words of a man shot dead in Maine by an ICE agent were revealed.
An expletive-laden interaction between the woman and law enforcement quickly followed, as Mari was being handled on the floor. Eventually, authorities are able to turn Mari around and place her in handcuffs.

(115,541 posts)My guess is the powers that be know that if you let local police witness this, then some of these out-of-control, brutalizing, and murderous ICE thugs might end up dead-- and possibly, rightfully and legally so. So, they don't allow local PD to come into contact.
No. I am not advocating battles between ICE and local PD, but damn if I want to see this crap continue.

(4,361 posts)The Cedar Rapids police were right there. They slammed the woman to the ground. The headline is wrong.

(11,377 posts)If they refuse to identify, begin civil lawsuits for harm and damages. Concussions are serious brain injury and I would begin the process of suing these ICE motherfuckers into the sunshine and out of existence. Sue them ALL - right up the chain of command and tack on a few billion dollars for punitive damages and restitution.
