Trump fires new US attorney in Seattle an hour after federal judges appoint him

Roger Rogoff’s was selected by panel of judges for top prosecutor job after interim US attorney’s term ended

Associated Press
Thu 16 Jul 2026 08.07 EDT

Donald Trump fired the new top federal prosecutor in Seattle on Wednesday less than an hour after the attorney was unanimously appointed by the federal judges in the district, highlighting tensions between the courts and the president over the powerful positions.

Roger Rogoff, a former judge and veteran state and federal prosecutor, was sworn in as US attorney before 8am at the US courthouse in downtown Seattle. In a phone interview, he said he then went to the US attorney’s office and asked to meet with Charles Neil Floyd, whose 120-day interim term in the position ended in February.

As he waited in a lobby, Rogoff said, he received an email from the Trump administration informing him he’d been removed from the position. He is consulting with other lawyers about suing over his firing, he said.

rules or procedures apply to him.

But, if we get a Democrat in office, they'll suddenly 'discover' new rules that can not be broken under any circumstances.

In short: Republicans are corrupt top to bottom.

He doesn’t, really. When he said I’ll be your favorite dictator on day one, we thought, sure you will, you delusional fool.

Now, it seems yesterday’s tyrannical acts are insufficient to convince us without more added to the pile. We’re past waking up. We’re walking over the edge of the plank where we never wanted to be.

He can fire them whenever he wants, and for whatever (or no) reason.

Trump has fired a whole bunch of them!! I have not done a full count, but guessing it is approaching the number of U.S. Attorney's Bush Jr. fired in 2006.

In 2006 US Attorney David Iglesias was one of the eight Bush (Rove!) fired for "performance-related issues." Bush/Rove fired the eight in one full swoop because they refused to defecate some bullshit charge against democrats - and only democrats - in their jurisdictions as to advantage- Republicans and screw up the 2006 mid-term elections. Sound familiar? Iglesias didn't go quietly! He made a stink and it got attention.

In October 2008 (Surprisingly, Bush was still president) the DoJ IG determined his firing had not been performance-related, but was politically motivated.

if he tries to fire him again challange it in court and when the government replies bar the government attorneys from practicing in federal court in washington. also refer those lawyers for disbarment. make it so no lawyer is willing to work for his thugs since it may cost them their careers
