That's what I'd like to say to A.G. Sulzberger, who is the interviewer's boss, BTW. He asserted in a speech that it is not the job of journalism to protect democracy yet without democracy and the constraints it makes on power, freedom of speech is like a flower in a vase, alive, but only briefly. And there's no point to journalism without that freedom.
