Texas Republicans have a data center problem
Data center construction is unpopular among locals, and a majority of the facilities are being proposed in red, rural counties. That puts Texas Republicans in a tough spot, as the White House has encouraged states to let the centers flourish.

(32,103 posts)They may create jobs while they are being constructed... for maybe a year... or less.
Once they are built they produce almost no jobs... two security guards ( if you are lucky ) and two or three technicians per shift.
That's it... they are by and large, "lights out" operations. Lights out means no people.
The administration is handled remotely... sometimes very remotely ( like India ).
This is for a fairly large datacenter.
Like this scene from the TV show Silicon Valley... only you could never even have a desk in a real datacenter... the noise is way too much... and the people were not wearing any sound protection.

Silicon Valley was my favorite show while it was being produced; thanks for that reference!

(37,887 posts)It isn't an amazon warehouse (which are jobs, but poorly paid and horrible jobs as a whole). Not only will folks not have jobs, but they will somehow be expected to pay more with these datacenters eating up the electricity and water in their area. None of this makes any sense. And when all the jobs are taken by AI, who buys the products? People need to think this through.
I doubt Trump even writes those posts.
