Investigation into possible tuberculosis spread at Aurora ICE facility blocked by private company, health officials say

The private company that operates the immigration detention facility in Aurora is blocking investigation into the possible spread of tuberculosis there, an Adams County health official stated in a court document earlier this month.

Now, a new report is raising questions about how much the highly contagious disease has spread in the facility, even as the standoff with the public health department continues.

After learning of a positive test for active tuberculosis from a detainee at the facility in early June, the Adams County Health Department launched an investigation, as is required under state law. However, Kelly Weidenbach, the executive director of the department, said her investigators were met with a lack of cooperation from federal immigration authorities and representatives of the GEO Group, which operates the facility, known as the Aurora ICE Processing Center, or AIPC.

In an affidavit written earlier this month as part of a court filing, Weidenbach stated: “My department has been in contact with GEO regarding this report of TB in AIPC, but to date either GEO or U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement or both have implemented significant roadblocks that have prevented my staff from being able to conduct or complete a meaningful investigation.”

... does the GEO Group have the authority to deny entry by a government official, especially one investigating the possible outbreak of a deadly disease?
Fuck those evil bastards with a fencepost. Maybe if Susan Collins expressed her "concerns", they'd be more forthcoming.

... I think they're pushing the envelope, so to speak, to see how much they can get away with. This is corporate America on steroids and PCP; they don't want ANY constraints on their behavior, so as you observed, they're trying to set precedents. Whether they hold up in court or not doesn't matter; they will have muddied the waters enough to give them time to push the limits of tolerance even further. They want to provoke an uprising so they can justify imposing martial law, just as Trump has been threatening. They want Feudalism 2.0, and they'll kill to get it.
Remember Steve Bannon's strategy of "flooding the zone"? Corporatists are attacking the rule of law from every direction, and with a complicit judiciary, it's working, to a degree. A corrupt Supreme Court runs a flying wedge formation to cover them while they run roughshod over every principle of good governance this country ever aspired to.
It's always wise to remember that "Corporatism" is what Benito Mussolini preferred to call his form of government. And what is the Republicans favorite boogeyman of late? ANTIFA! Which is short for antifascism. The room-temperature IQs can't quite grasp that being AGAINST Antifa is, by definition, being FOR fascism. The dots connect themselves.
