Graham Platner | Campaign website
CNN chief data analyst Harry Enten shared surprising data showing that Democrats have an even greater chance of ousting incumbent Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME) now that Graham Platner is out of the race.
Enten showed that on July 2, about a week before Platner dropped out and also before the sexual assault allegations against Platner were made public, Democrats had a 50 percent chance of winning the race. Now, polling shows they have a 63 percent chance.
It is simply because Graham Platner was greatly underperforming the fundamentals in Maine, Enten explained, demonstrating that Collins had a one-point advantage over Platner in the average poll, but that a generic Democrat, when positioned against a generic Republican, is up by 12 points. And this was prior to the latest accusation against Platner, Enten emphasized.
He said folks might assume this is merely because Collins is a strong candidate, but that polls show her popularity has actually been sinking.

They have known about the tattoo because he spoke about it for months across the state at over 80+ town halls.
I think they were more impressed with his passion in arguing against an actual genocide taking place in Gaza with our tax dollar support.
Genocide being something a true Nazi would actually love to support.

(66,186 posts)To my knowledge Graham Planter hasn't been accused of or charged with rape.
If you have evidence to the contrary present it.
If it's he said, she said, and you still accuse him of rape, then you're painting him as guilty until proven innocent., and he will carry that charge for the rest of his life.

(2,404 posts)And given the very low number of false claims, he's very likely guilty. And that's before you get to his lifetime of mistreating women that he admits to, plus heavy drinking as a coping mechanism.

(825 posts)Platner as the Chosen One. They were sure he was the only person who could win because it fit their narrative that nobody wanted to vote for traditional Democrats. It's the same narrative that is being pushed all over the country.

(99,325 posts)I feel that a ground swell is happening. The huge protests at Collins campaign office in a small town in Maine on a Monday, a workday for most.

(5,096 posts)The race will tighten up again after July 25th. All this means is that there's no one on which to currently to pass judgment on the Democratic side.
