As my son is a huge Arsenal fan, I am familiar with some of the England players so I can't help but want them to do well.

Aside from the War, the Hand of God,…..

There was the 1966 WC Quartfinal.
The match was so brutal yellow and red cards were invented.
The Argentinian Captain was ejected at the 35th minute, wouldn’t leave for 10 minutes, and was escorted off by police.

I'm still recovering from the loss to England of Norway and their giant golden retriever, but I want Spain to win the final, just so I can watch Trump have to award them the trophy.

I didn’t understand the complete change. They went long ball in the first half. Great long passes but that wasn’t their game.

Them they scored. They clearly thought they could just wait out Argentina. You can’t stop a WC team any team for that long. After the late water break (70 min) it was all Argentina. An unrelenting attack. Argentina kept adding offensive players and England defense. After the score tied, how did England think they would score?

It’s as if the manager thought “…and now…for something completely different “

Spain should be favored in the finals. They will dominate the ball, one assumes.

Who on Earth thinks you can run a low block against Argentina for 40 minutes? Only Tuchel.

And then, he doesn't make more than one sub until the 80th minute. How?

And then, when he makes another sub, he decides again on yet a new formation.

Honestly, this World Cup has a single lesson: if you play scared, you lose. Tuchel retreated into some goofy Bundesliga philosophy after Gordon's goal, and the results were all but predetermined at that point.

There will be minor recriminations for Morgan Rogers not passing on the break when England was still up 1-0, but these are not legitimate or interesting: he's a good lad who had the last two important assists for England. Shooting there was a fine decision, even if it didn't work out.

But the recriminations will be for Tuchel, whose foolishness opened the door for Argentina. I don't see how he survives it. Sacked before New Year's, I'd guess. Certainly, nobody wants to see his snailing strategy in the Euros.
