When there are no consequences for lies and despicable behavior, and in fact, a segment of the public has been allowed to openly celebrate such behavior, I see no way back without major structural and cultural reform.

This morning one of the few reality-based folks posted about this and they were immediately challenged. "Do you know this is true? How do you know he's a predator? What about... something something Biden?"

The people posting these absurdities are real people. I sat next to them in math class in school. They aren't dumb. Some of them aren't even conservative. In RL they are kind, generous people with a lot of personal struggles and losses. They "should" be strong Democrats. (I hate that word "should" because it gets us nowhere.)

They are tragically misinformed. And the tragedy is the loss of democracy.

During Chump's first campaign in 2016, Bannon contacted a long list of women and got most of them to sign NDA's. It wasn't that Chump literally raped the women, some were just physically abused in one way or another. Some of these women were paid a lot of money, and they signed, others signed for free. A few were famously mishandled, such as Stormy Daniels - but she's not the only one.

That's how this lawsuit with E. Jean Carroll came about. She refused to sign the NDA and instead she took him to court.

I don't know, maybe Bannon is exaggerating when he says it's over 100, but it's not much of a stretch. Chump has always been a complete asshole towards everyone, especially women.

Someone needs to ask Steve Bannon if any of the women who signed the NDAs were Epstein's victims. That has never been mentioned, as far as I know. I hope Michael Wolff has done more research in that regard, maybe it's in his next book.
