Im sorry he passed away, not because of him. Anyone who passes away, I feel bad for those around him.
But the Lindsey was good person montage is not what he was! He was a sniveling little man who blew the way the wind blew! He used friends to get what he wanted which gained him fame, popularity and fortune.
He was vile and arrogant! He knew nothing but hate and discontent for those who were not in his class of people.
I know it is wrong to speak of the dead, but his way of treating others was a joke.
So, his eulogy will be unbearable to anyone who knows that he was a terrible person! That goes for many GOBers who will be leaving this world sooner rather than later.
I will pray for his family, but it is hard to pray for such a vile horrible person.

(43,444 posts)Everything about Lindsey changed after John passed away. That's the only good thing I can say about him.
This is probably the last time that I will share my favorite Lindsey Graham gif:

(43,444 posts)I'd be honored if you include this one. I can't remember where I found it, probably on Imgur.
It looks like it was created by Comedy Central, but once it's on the internet, everyone owns it.

(14,807 posts)In the article on reaction to his death, I posted that They buried Lindseys integrity with John McCain.
The comment was taken down, then re-instated and had several dozen Recs.

(6,545 posts)But that's desperately what he wanted. He grew up poor in South Carolina so he was never going to be accepted in certain circles. But he wanted in. And he was always willing to do whatever it took.

(54,300 posts)He was the annoying little sidekick to the more fearsome school bully. Absolutely never the "cool kid".
Some people grow past that stage of their life, but others go to their grave still trying to please and impress the powerful.

(254 posts)He attached himself to powerful men to bask in their reflected glory, to borrow their power and influence. No shade, but given his predilections there may have been a touch of submissive eroticism involved as well.

(55,944 posts)First, your life's mistakes aren't erased by your death and you're canonized.
Second, I reference Meyer Wolfsheim from The Great Gatsby, namely "Let us learn to show our friendship for a man when he is alive and not after he is dead. After he is dead, I have nothing to do with it." Trump washed his hands of Lindsey the next day by selecting his sister, Darlene, who has absolutely no experience in politics and governance.

(3,168 posts)Bernie Moreno was elected senator for Ohio with absolutely no experience in government.
People assume success in the private sector in general and business in particular somehow causes political expertise to descend from above. The minimal requirements for assuming positions in government especially higher positions are incredibly small.

(14,807 posts)He was the strongest Ukraine supporter on the R side of the Senate. He had made 10 trips there since Jan 25, and likely influenced Trumps limited efforts to help Ukraine resist Putin.
Of course he negated any true respect for that position by simultaneously supporting the Israeli genocide in Gaza and Lebanon.

(15,574 posts)direction the wind blew. And yet, his body knew what he was doing was wrong - it experienced constant stress and high blood pressure that in the end caused his heart event.
What was it Shakespeare said,
Cowards die many times before their deaths;
The valiant never taste of death but once.
Of all the wonders that I yet have heard,
It seems to me most strange that men should fear,
Seeing that death, a necessary end,
Will come when it will come.
The epitaph of a political wind sock.
When Trump is out of the picture, we will not be able to go back to business as usual. We need real, and I mean REAL reforms - an amendment overturning Citizens United, impeachment for at least two of the 'justices' on the Supreme Court, complete release of the UNREDACTED Epstein files so we can go after these modern billionaire robber barons, a change in the rules of corporate governance that puts worker interests, consumer interests and the welfare of the earth itself EQUAL in weight of fiduciary responsibility to shareholder profits. What we have now (MI Supreme Court, 1919, Dodge Brothers v Ford) holds shareholder profits above human life and the habitability of the planet itself. This is why our system encourages and rewards sociopathic behavior.
This is only part of it, of course, but lest you say, well, this is a laundry list - it is not. It is a checklist to taking back our republic and making our government once again a government of, by and for the people.
See, I paid over $18K in taxes last year to the federal government, and am literally getting nickel and dimed to death in turn - high healthcare costs, high energy costs, high water costs, high grocery costs, my Social Security in danger. Not to mention that everything the GOP has done has been to steal money from the treasury to line the pockets of Epstein class billionaires.
This country is getting to be a powder keg, and I'm seeing lots of repostings of the Declaration of Independence, 1789 and guillotine memes, so when Roberts (CEO of Heritage Foundation) told us in 2024 that the coup will be bloodless if the left lets it be, he wasn't thinking of John Q Public. He was thinking of Congress, the Judicial System and the Executive branch all being focused on enriching more of the Epstein class jokers and keeping up huge profits for defense companies, prison companies and the corporate media.
People are sick of it.
