That line is a famous 1980 observation by the author Isaac Asimov, lamenting what he called a "cult of ignorance".In his original context, Asimov argued that anti-intellectualism thrives on the false notion that democratic equality applies to knowledge, ignoring the fact that while everyone has the right to an equal vote, expertise actually requires study.
