The moment many viewers noticed was about three seconds long. President Donald Trump, seated in the Oval Office for a childrens book segment on Usha Vances podcast, reached toward a stack of books. What followed wasnt a smooth, natural grab. His shoulder rotated outward at an unusual angle, and he used an odd four-fingered grip to retrieve the book rather than the natural hand-shaping most adults use automatically. For most people watching, it looked like an awkward reach. For one licensed speech-language pathologist, it looked like something else entirely.
Hilary Shae, a speech-language pathologist specializing in concussion recovery, has spent months documenting observable patterns in Trumps public appearances. When she analyzed slow-motion footage from Trumps July 4, 2026 appearance on Vances Storytime with the Second Lady podcast, she concluded the book grab was, in her words, actually quite informative from a neurological perspective. Her assessment was blunt: Donald Trump went on Usha Vances show, and that turned out to be a big mistake for him, Shae said. Because he demonstrated signs and symptoms of dementia in both the speech and language aspect, as well as the motor-functioning aspect.
The appearance itself was straightforward. Trump joined Vance on the podcast, which was posted online on July 4, 2026, to read Presidents Play! a childrens book from the White House Historical Association that features illustrations of presidents enjoying sports and using the White House grounds for recreation. Trump pre-taped the appearance in mid-June in the Oval Office. What Shae focused on had nothing to do with the books content or Trumps off-script commentary on former presidents. Her attention was on the physical mechanics of picking up a book.
Trump Dementia Signs: What a Pathologist Saw in the Grip
On the physical side, Shae used slowed-down footage from the appearance to demonstrate Trump having a difficult time grabbing the book, as well as the awkward external rotation of his shoulder when he turned to grab it from a stack of other books.

(2,848 posts)I am no fan of Trump, obviously, but this woman has no business diagnosing him when she is not an M.D. or has examined him personally. Those books are piled up in an awkward position, and what I saw is he grabbed the book in an awkward way because the books were awkwardly positioned.
His stream-of-consciousness talk with Usha Vance was more concerning because it was embarrassing. He didn't really stick with the book and went on his usual adlib nonsense.

That somehow think the base is into reading. She wants desperately to be normalized, while sitting next to Shitler, a man openly murdering Americans on the street he deems not White enough.

Starting at about 6 months, if an infant is presented with a raisin (or other small object). they don't yet have the thumb-and-forefinger pincer grasp and will use 4 finger to "rake" the object toward them and pick it up that way. This maneuver looks just like what Pedo Don was doing.
