"Naked disdain Media & Elite, both Republican & Democratic, have for Democratic voters is insane."
He goes on to say No Media or Political Elite woke up this morning and thought lavishing praise on a person despised by Democratic voters for causing untold suffering around the world while undermining democracy in US would seem partisan Republican to Democratic voters, because they never think about Democratic voters.
This is why you get Dem Senators effusively praising Graham's wit and his golf abilities. This is why Democratic base has reached their limit with the "old guard". The Rs have the media and of course their own party in their pocket.
Someone should be able to stand up for the truth and state the facts about Graham. Especially when the media is completely under the thumb of the Rs. If our leaders can't/won't do it, the base will look for others that will.

(5,708 posts)I keep seeing all these articles saying how important he was and how he was a bridge between Trump and the Senate.
Who cares. Trump will get another lackey in that seat and his destruction will proceed as usual.

When piggy finally goes toes-up, does that mean Junior or Barron takes over? VD Vance might be in for a shock.

(26,234 posts)That's what pisses me off. So tone deaf. I think the author is correct that they just never think of Dem voters. Yesterday, though, Andy Beshear was on MSNOW and he kept it civil but factual. No effusive praise. He gets it. He didn't seem afraid of the voters in his red state. We need truth tellers and they are lacking among so many Dems in leadership.

With all that B.S.,it explains a lot.

(107,086 posts)Seems very unlikely. Would a centrist decide that they won't vote for a Dem, because they felt they were speaking ill of the dead? A little more likely, I think.

(26,234 posts)one which I may have shared with you until recently. However, it's a matter of degree. Andy Beshear gave a master class in how to respond yesterday for example. No one could accuse him of disrespecting the dead. However, there was no effusive praise, just one compliment about his stance on Ukraine and sympathy for his loved ones. Lavishing praise on a character like Graham that the base has strong feelings about can depress turnout and cause dissatisfaction with the party as a whole. We need a strong, unified base heading into these midterms.

(107,086 posts)but I hope no one would not vote for a Dem because they praised a dead Republican. That would put the widely-reviled "I won't vote for Biden or Harris because of their Gaza policy" excuse in the shade. A base feeling good is nice; not alienating people who have deeply-held beliefs about speaking well of the dead is more likely to get votes..

(2,660 posts)I'm not sure how to make it just show the video--but if you click on it, Lamont Tyson gives a great before-and-after summary about how he waffled his whole life, opposed Trump then sucked up to Trump, etc. etc. etc. Also discusses all the damage he did---not at all worthy of praise. Total asshole.

(23,465 posts)hold a supermajority. Until then, we need to establish a supermajority. If the voters won't back that, then holding our noses intolerantly at our own is basically doing the bidding of Putin and the republicans.
