UPDATE 7/1/26 @ 1:14 p.m.
VINTON COUNTY, Ohio (WSAZ) - Its a case officials are calling almost indescribable. Ohio Attorney General Andy Wilson released new information about a child neglect case in Vinton County Wednesday afternoon, along with Sheriff Ryan Cain and other investigators.
Four people were arrested and charged after investigators searched a home in the Hamden area and discovered 16 children inside Tuesday.
AG Wilson said seven of those children were taken to Columbus hospitals, and at least two of them were life-flighted. He said the children have limited communication skills, and some of them cant communicate at all. They range in ages from one and a half to 18 years old.
Gary Siders Sr., Gary Siders Jr., Christina Siders, and Elizabeth Siders are all facing 16 second-degree felony counts of child endangerment in the case.
Sheriff Ryan Cain described it as a disgusting scene, and mentioned that most livestock is kept in better conditions than these children were. Cain said a large number of the children were kept in a roughly 12x12 area, which he said seems to be where they spent most of the last four years.
When asked, officials said neighbors in the area had no idea there were even children inside the home.

That's immediately where my mind went. "Oh, my god, what has ICE done NOW?"
This is horrible either way of course, but phrases like "prolonged and extreme interfamilial neglect and abuse" add an layer extra layer of horror to the story.

(48,053 posts)The oldest child is reportedly 18. Assuming that's her child, she had that child at 15. So yes, I am not sure if she should be considered a victim or a perp here.

(70,049 posts)Population about 12,000 people, 96% of whom are white. 79% of voters there chose Trump in 2024. Income, education, health status all what you would expect.
This is the shining beacon of white rural America touted by JD Vance, who grew up a few counties over.
This is what "try that in a small town" really means.

(3,489 posts)I lived in a very rural area for 20 years. Small town outside of a small town outside of Vegas. There were a lot of things I loved about it. But basically, one of the things I learned early on was the face people presented was usually very different from what reality was. Try that in a small town? Well, since my experience was that screwing your neighbor (in every sense of the word), and cooking meth were OK, not sure if Jason Aldean had any idea of what small towns are capable of tolerating.

(21,102 posts)You have to get a license to drive.
You have to get a license to open a restaurant.
But people can produce as many children as the like without any questions asked.
There oughta be a law.

(21,102 posts)Anyone with reproductive organs can put the pedal down and create as much life as they possibly can. There isn't a single thing standing in their way. Except a conscience, maybe, which doesn't seem to apply with this group.
The hell they've created for those children.........😱
