CEOs buy tech that is popular because even if turns to be the wrong move, they will escape blame. Therefore it is the safest career move.

Consulting firms were created after the Sherman Antitrust Act of 1890 and the Glass-Steagal pushback on price fixing, collusion and cartels. Rather than talk to each other directly which is illegal they use the same consulting firms which remains legal and achieves the same goal.
