TX-SEN: Cornyn surrenders his last shred of dignity.

Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas) on Tuesday pledged to support the Republican ticket after losing his Senate primary runoff to Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton (R).

“I’ve spent most of my time in the Senate building the Republican Party in Texas and in the U.S. Senate, and I’ve always supported the Republican ticket, and I intend to do so again in this general election,” Cornyn told supporters.

“I’ve said throughout this race that I trust the voters of Texas, and they’ve made their decision, and I must respect it,” he added.

The incumbent, who was seeking a fifth term in the Senate, thanked his team and said he’ll focus on closing out the last seven months of his Senate tenure helping “make this nation a better place for all Texans and all Americans.” He did not mention President Trump or Paxton by name.
