Democratic dreams die there. They love electing scum. Paxton is still the front runner.

(4,775 posts)take texas down to where it consistently ranks in the bottom 5- 10 of states in everything from education, quality of life, transportation...if it weren't for louisiana, mississippi, and alabama, we would definitely be at the bottom.

(11,954 posts)We can''t even unseat a scumbag like Rafael Cruz from the Senate even though every single Senator despises him nearly as much as most of us.
Doesn't mean to give up, just something to be aware of.

(195 posts)is what it is? I have lived here all my life and there once was a time when we were not in
a race to be first in stupidity. A time when we actually acted on common sense and did
not have a follow the herd attitude.
Those days started with Nixon but went through the roof with Ray-gun. I told friends back
then, if we elect Ray-gun we would see the end of the middle class as we know it and if
Ray-gun completed the marriage of the Republican Party to the moral majority that it was a
deal with the Devil that would leave us smelling the smoke for a very long time.
Hell, the fire has not gone out yet to get us to the smoking phase.
If I really wanted to, I could probably move somewhere else but at my age and with my
attitude I think I would rather stick around and be a pain in their ass. I do my best to let
people know I think they are ignorant assholes without saying it directly. Anyhoo I am not
going to ask you to keep us in your prayers, just wish us good luck!!!

And it seems the repukes now in Texas have really regressed to lower depths than bush.

(4,775 posts)weren't conservative enough. Bush 2 occasionally pops up for the occasional charitable cause, but rarely dabbles in politics anymore. Most magas don't even talk about him or reagan.

By the way I was born in Arkansas.

(3,947 posts)As in other repuke primaries its giving the illusion that FatAss is all powerful. Repuke turnout here, as in almost every repuke primary so far across the land has been dismal even by midterm standards. Yet the headlines run for days later giving the illusion the FatAss candidate won thereby "proving" his power when in fact it's plain old weak sauce like him. A broken Hollandaise. It proves nothing and in fact these turnouts show there is nearly ZERO repuke desire to vote so far. We need to quit reenforcing these foolishly wrong headlines. Meaningless.

(114,711 posts)Of course, Texas Republicans can be counted upon to vote for total scum
Paxton is well known to be a crook, convicted but skated on the sentencing. That alone might be enough to keep Texan rank and file Republicans from dragging themselves to the polls on a chilly November day.
I think some districts will flip. I can't predict the Senate race.

(4,630 posts)Paxton is no worse than Cornyn. Hes just more open about his lack of morality. Cornyn is simply too cowardly to be as openly corrupt as Paxton. He is certainly no better. A lot of folks think Paxton will be easier to defeat than Cornyn. I think that is a mistake if it encourages complacency . We will have to work our asses off to register and get our voters to the polls. But I have faith there are real changes happening in Texas.
We have a new state chair who is really shaking up the old party to groans and disgruntlement of many old timers in the party. But things are really changing with his leadership. For the first time in 30 years we filled all the races on the primary ballot. I met this guy at a fundraiser the other day. His name is Kendall Scudder. Hes 36 years old from Bowie, TX, (formerly a sunset town) raised by two moms and he is one of those guys you dont tell him something cant be done. Before you can get the words out of your mouth, hell show you HOW its done. I am more hopeful than Ive ever been, but I understand the challenge before us. There are a lot of good people in Texasdont give up on us. We need your support more than ever before, but I truly believe we are either going to do this are we are going to give the Republicans a hard assed run for the money that will put Texas on the map as a battleground state. Im worried about Republican cheating, but that doesnt matter. We have to work to get done.
In my county, we tripled the Democratic votes in the primary compared to the last midterm primary. Thats real data, not wishful thinking. The Republicans were shocked. I can imagine how they will feel in November.

(2,610 posts)Ive never been to Texas; all I know about Texas are the stereotypes, which sadly seem to be true. Recently, Ive seen Texans being interviewed re who they plan to vote for in the Senate race. Most said Paxton, because hes more honest, a better candidate, and similar sentiments. How can they possibly be so blind? Paxton is as sleazy and amoral as Trump.
mwmisses4289

Forest Gump's stupid is as stupid does defines them perfectly. You cannot talk common sense to

(5,259 posts)and the majority of Texans are even souring on TRUMP at this point.... His endorsement of Paxton may have sealed the deal in the extremist Republican primary, but it isn't exactly a 'plus' for the General Election...
Maybe you forgot what site you are on---
your DEFEATIST post might be more welcome on 'RedState' than here,
and I personally resent it!
If you want to be skeptical , demoralized and defeated personally, then fine--
but I suggest you keep those emotions the fuck to YOURSELF
and not attack Democratic hopes or post things that would tend to demoralize our our party base
more than to help us to win!!!!
If we eventually lose in Texas, THEN you can come back and say
"I TOLD YOU SO"---
but THIS ISN'T the fucking time to be saying it!!
(it MIGHT even be considered a site rules violation by some, under a liberal interpretation
of all the 'party loyalty' rules!)
