According to Steve Kornaki, Paxton is trouncing Cornyn

as the polls close in TX. Watching him on the "Kornaki Cam" on nbcnews.com. Looks lie trump sealed the deal for Paxton and his maga followers are all in. We are in for a ride, people. I can not think of two candidates more polar opposites in style, morality, message, policy, you name it.

Go Talarico!!!!!!

And thus far (43 percent of the ballots counted) it looks like the masks are finally slipping off the Texas Republican Party’s faces.

and you could tell he didn't like the adultery scandal Paxton is embroiled in. But he still voted for him because "Clinton". Yes, he actually brought up Clinton to justify his vote.

Odds are that would have happened even without an endorsement from Trump.

Cornyn is in office until Jan 2027 and maybe he and other lame duck GOP incumbents will be ticked off enough to vote against Trump sometimes.

Also, my big fear if Paxton lost was that Trump would grab him for a Cabinet position.

These voters are the trumpiest of the trumpiest and don't represent the average voter in TX. Talarico should get almost all the Independents, all the Dems, and the Rs that can't stomach Paxton. Fingers crossed that that's enough.

I don’t think I do anymore.

Before the 2024 elections, I would have said that Ken Paxton was likely to beat any Texas Democratic candidate. But that was before Donald John’s second inauguration and Individual One’s campaign against “illegal aliens”, a campaign enthusiastically embraced by Texas Governor Greg Abbott, Texas Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick and Texas state Attorney General Ken Paxton.-

Texas isn’t California. That’s been proven. OTOH, Texas’ demographics aren’t the same as they were when California Republican governor Pete Wilson unintentionally flipped California from a purple state to a blue one.

A funny thing about Texas demographics these days: unlike days of yore, a plurality of Texas population in 2026 is Latino, and many of them look just like the folks being rounded up, caged, and deported.

Add to that Ken Paxton’s rep as an adulterer and a crook. Latinos might not approve of the looser attitudes towards gender roles held by some Texas Democrats, but there are certain behaviors they disapprove of.

I refuse to say that victory is in the bag: I’ve been disappointed too many times. But I think Mr. Talarico’s chances are better than any Texas Democratic candidate’s have been for a good long while.

And that has been known for a long time.

Good article regarding Paxton here for anyone interested.https://thebarbedwire.com/2026/02/17/ken-paxton-scandal-timeline/
