Query: Were the J-6ers prosecuted in federal court b/c the District of Columbia

doesn't have jurisdiction of its own or was it because it was assumed that Trump would never get near the White House again to pardon them?

The conspiracies that occurred offsite in , say, Virginia, were nevertheless federal crimes requiring federal prosecution as well.
